The current threshold for participating in the postseason is an APR score of 930.

The NCAA describes the Academic Progress Rate as ‘a team-based metric that accounts for the eligibility and retention of each student-athlete, each term.’ The multi-year rates cover a four-year period for the 2012-13, 2013-14, 2014-15 and 2015-16 academic years.

These are the APR scores for every football program in the SEC, in order from highest to lowest.

  • Vanderbilt: 992
  • Alabama: 980
  • Auburn: 980
  • Florida: 980
  • Miss State: 974
  • Mizzou: 974
  • Tennessee: 972
  • Ole Miss: 971
  • South Carolina: 970
  • Arkansas: 966
  • Texas A&M: 962
  • Georgia: 961
  • LSU: 959
  • Kentucky: 958

South Carolina: Will Muschamp will receive a $75,000 bonus for South Carolina’s multi-year APR of 970, according to USA Today.

Arkansas: Bret Bielema will receive a $50,000 bonus for Arkansas’ multi-year APR of 966, according to USA Today.

Texas A&M: Kevin Sumlin will receive a $50,000 bonus, as well as a $25,000 bonus for the staff pool, because of the football team’s single-year APR of 971, according to USA Today.

Tennessee: Butch Jones will receive a $100,000 bonus for Tennessee’s single-year APR of 978, according to USA Today.

Student athlete is a joke if you really think about it except for some of the football players. Some stay qualified passing classes and would still struggle to pass that low entry level test score required to get in. That CLAST exam or whatever it is called is probably the most difficult thing some of them will ever do in college and it certainly isn't a college level test. Some players have been shown to be functionally illiterate after leaving their colleges.

Both Alabama and Auburn are part of The State of Alabama school system - and do they have a system.

Unfortunately, everything you said is exactly what is going on.

The NCAA wants players to pass so passing players is what you get.
The NCAA wants players to pass a standardized test to be eligible to play so players passing a standardized test is what you get.

Can they read? The NCAA didn't insist that players can read so........

The Barn isn't that bad of a school. Tuscaloosa on the other hand.....

Nice to see those worm sucking bastards in Athens, who constantly throw up the "we are the oldest public university in the nation" load of ****, coming close to bringing up the rear.

955 for the 2013-2014 season... three points below Kintucky.

Tied with Bama and the Barn. I find that hard to believe those teams are that high.

I believe it. We already know from Spurrier's testimony that the barn's class assignments are coloring books. I'm sure bamuh has similar curriculum.

Gotta keep those student-athletes eligible!

To be fair, Vandy holding the top spot in all-things-academic is expected.
No argument there. The 2nd place remark referred to all things not academic here lately. I should have been more clear though I suppose some might argue that 1st in the East is a pinnacle.

I knew what you meant, but as Captain Obvious, I felt a strong urge to comment anyway.
