You and Sas are the Rabbit's foot! One thing though...when talking sports, I believe it is proper decorum to follow "hot as balls" with a "GD" or another suitable profanity instead of "goodness gracious!" You aren't Catholic and trying to soften that next confession are you? :)

While I'm thinking about it, there is a rumor that the mods are trying to get Ox to sponsor you two as Gator Chatter Ambassadors for the SEC tournament. The deal supposedly will give you use of the Miata to travel to and from, provided you fix the front tire on the driver's side and take Ox King with you so he can holler at Sully. Also, there is to be a really nice care package from the Chatter's major sponsors, including the Minute Mart in Starke, the Exxon/Discount Cigarette Outlet in Madison, Cafe Risqué (signs say "couples welcome," so...), and Achmet's Shwarma-on-the-go Food Truck (currently disabled at the rest area outside of Monticello). Of course, game tickets and lodging at the Hoover low rent rendezvous of your choice is on you (I hear Ox King tosses in his sleep, so you'll want to get those two queens instead of a king). Take that good karma with you and keep us posted!
:lol2:

We're on a pretty good streak lately. Since the beginning of the 2015 football season, we've only attended one Gator sports loss, which was the FSU game that year. Not driving to Hoover, though. :shakehead:

Great response by baseball team after Thursday's shellacking and great response by finishing 21-6 in conference after getting swept in the first weekend. Still not sure how they did it with a potpourri of in juries and a terrible bullpen, but credit to all of them. Having won the toughest conference regular season, I am hoping they go out early in the SEC tourney b/c those 4 arms they have need all the rest they can get, and they have secured a top 8 seed. Congrats!!!!

Given the amount of freshmen expected to fill positions left vacant from last year's squad, I thought we were highly overranked at the start of the year. To finish in the top 5, in spite of all the injuries, is pretty impressive to me.

Even if they exit quickly from the sec tourney, they should have a top 8 national seed in the NCAA tourney. Hopefully our draw is favorable and we make another visit to Nebraska

6 UF players make All-SEC, no 1st teamer's

https://www.seccountry.com/florida/florida-baseball-sec-honors

Mere days after being named co-SEC regular-season champions, the Florida Gators baseball team had 6 players earn all-conference teams honors on Tuesday. None of them, however, were first-team selections.

Four Florida players earned All-SEC second-team honors: starting pitchers Alex Faedo and Brady Singer, relief pitcher Michael Byrne and utility/DH JJ Schwarz. Second baseman Deacon Liput and shortstop Dalton Guthrie were also honored as members of the conference’s all-defensive team.

Faedo and Singer served respectively as Florida’s Friday and Saturday starters this season. Faedo finished the regular season with a 7-2 record to go along with a 2.89 ERA in 90 1/3 innings. His 106 strikeouts ranked second in the conference.

Singer led the SEC in innings pitched (97 2/3) and total strikeouts looking (38). The hard-throwing right-hander tossed 3 complete games in conference play, including back-to-back 9-inning wins against LSU and Missouri. He is 7-3 on the year with a 2.67 ERA.

Byrne became the Gators’ closer 2 weeks into conference play and quickly became the most trusted player in Kevin O’Sullivan’s bullpen. He is tied for the single-season school record for saves with 13 and has 56 strikeouts to just 11 walks in 51 1/3 innings.

Schwarz started the season in a slump but has gone on a tear over the final month of the season to bring his batting average up to .286 to go along with his team-leading marks in RBI (46), total bases (93), home runs (9) and runs scored (35). Since hitting a season-altering grand slam in the series finale against South Carolina on April 22, Schwarz is batting .404 (21-for-52) with 4 home runs, 16 RBI and 14 runs scored. He is on a season-long 9-game hit streak heading into the SEC Tournament.

As for the defensive team members, Liput has committed just 1 error in the field in 235 chances while helping turn 32 defensive plays. Guthrie, despite having 8 errors, has made a bevy of web-gem plays in the field this season.

Florida’s top hitters in conference play — outfielders Nelson Maldonado (.400 batting average, .544 on-base percentage, .644 slugging) and Ryan Larson (.339 batting average, .429 on-base percentage, .505 slugging) — did not make the all-conference teams. Starting pitcher Jackson Kowar, who is a perfect 10-0 on the year as the Gators’ No. 3 starter and the only SEC pitcher with double-digit wins, also did not receive a nod.

5-4 Gators win. Byrne gets his (new UF record) 14th save:

http://www.gatorcountry.com/florida...ors-open-sec-tournament-with-win-over-auburn/

Six Florida Gators had struck out before JJ Schwarz lined a fastball into right field to start an eighth inning rally. A single and two walks later and the Gators pushed a run across the board when Christian Hicks’ bases loaded walk plated Schwarz to give Florida a 5-4 lead.

Michael Byrne came on in the ninth inning and closed the game out. The save was Byrne’s 14th of the season, a new Florida single season record.
The No. 1 seeded Gators received a first round bye in the SEC tournament and were presented with a trophy honoring their regular season co-SEC championship (split with LSU).

The Gators will get Thursday off before returning to the diamond, where they will play the winner of Arkansas-Mississippi State. Sophomore Brady Singer is scheduled to start.
