I am of the opinion that you can never have enough good players, regardless of sport, but count me also as not excited about this. I think Zaire is an excellent athlete and a good QB given a certain system. But knowing what Butters wants and likes to do offensively, I don;t see this as anything but a cluster. I am not comparing Zaire to Treon Harris, but in all fairness, when Harris was forced to play, Butters and NussNuts did an absolutely horrendous job of managing games and putting Harris in spots that made him more comfortable. I can cite exact examples, but I don;t want to go into awful memories, but Butters and NussNuts are awful at managing games and calling plays when they think they have a QB who fits their likes, but with an guy like Zaire, it will only create more indecision and confusion for Butters and NussNuts!

Zaire (when healthy) had success in Kelly's system which is a pro style system. Zaire isn't a guy coming from Oregon or another option based offense. I think he will do just fine unless Franks beats him out which would be wonderful.

:rolleyes3::rolleyes3::rolleyes3:

Come on, dude. If you had even Googled this, you'd know it false. Kelly runs a conservative run first spread. Do you even watch football?

It's not an OPTION spread, which isn't "normal" spread at all, but is a bastard child that Creyer and Co developed running ND's old option out of spread formations, but it sure as hell is a basic spread.

Ok pro style wasn't the right descriptor. I was attempting to convey that he's not running an option style offense aka Oregon. Forgive me for not using the correct terminology and making a mistake, master. Thanks for your correction guru!

Edit: Guru, please share some articles for a dummy like me. I need to be enlightened.

I hope this turns out to be true. It never hurts to have a talented senior in the locker room and as an option. It can only make us better

(If true) yet another transfer QB? Nothing against Zaire, but bringing in transfers at QB does nothing to develop home grown players from the ground up, and is a slap in the face of the guys who have been busting their hump to learn Mac's system.

"But if the league alters the rule -- and Florida sources feel confident it will -- it could clear the way for Zaire's transfer."

Nothing has really changed. We are still just wait and see, hoping the Bammer and Ugly conference will vote to give us a break.

Would be unwise to transfer due to a Sr with one year left. He should have the mindset that he needs to beat him out. Not a mindset of a snowflake.

Why would Franks believe that he would ever start for this staff? After his first spring they went with a walkon transfer who is not talented enough to play in the SEC. After his second spring they are bringing in a graduate transfer. If I were Franks, why would I believe that this staff would ever start me.

BTW, I do agree this kid will likely make UF better this year. I worry that this QB treadmill and failure to develop a young QB will hurt the program in the future. I think this makes it really important that Allen or Trask win the job next year.

Either you are good enough to play or you aren't. The people Butters has recruited aren't. So far, Butters' best QB has been Purdue's old third stringer.

Zaire isn't great, but he is at least a Div 1 level player. We really only have one other of those on the roster and he will probably need a few more years to be ready.

If Zaire comes here, he starts.

Because Franks should realize he came in really raw and was going to take time to develop. You may be right though, he may see it as he will never get a shot, but from his words it sounds like he's not scared to compete.

We will find out soon.

But competition develops players, or at least I hear that at every other position, so why is QB different?
