The only thing I know about Zaire is he's thrown 98 passes since HS, been injured and can't beat out guys at Notre Dame.

And our Coach is telling him all our QB's suck in order for him to want to come here.

Yay.

The guy he couldn't beat out was a second round pick. Context helps.

This news makes me happy. Neither of the redshirt freshman are ready. He is a much better get than Appleby or LDR. I'm betting he wins the job.

But competition develops players, or at least I hear that at every other position, so why is QB different?
I totally agree with you. But that is not my point. My point is that when a coach (and in Mac's case, a self-proclaimed QB guru) must rely on transfer players rather than developing his own players makes me believe that he is not capable of recruiting and developing players from the ground up. And again, it is a moot point unless Zaire actually becomes a Gator. Transfer players can fill very important roles on a team, including, as you point out, a higher level of competition among team mates. But very few top programs rely on transfers to be successful year in and year out.

You are right.

Well, if Del Taco is not ready to start then Zaire will face the wrath of the Michigan pass rush in game 1. Franks is not ready, this is a hit against Mac not being able to develop QB"s.

Remember there is competition and the Gators due to many factors are behind other programs in getting the best QBs. It will take time and a lot of work to get us back to a mostly favored position with the top players, continually changing systems and coaches won't get this done unless we could attract a total winner coach. I don't see that as even possible.

Well, Chip Kelly is going to be working at ESPN next season and he is a winner coach that I would be 1000% behind if we hired him to replace Mac. The issue is Mac winning the East twice in his first two seasons will get at least a 4th year...

Yay.

He hasn't thrown a pick and is pretty poised back there. That coach showed by all those losses his mistake in that move. That other QB never hardly came through late in close games.

The best thing however is when Zaire played in a spring game the coach didn't go way out of his way to make sure the DBs covering the receivers on those plays were 3rd stringers or literal walk ons mostly.
