Depth is never a bad thing. Improved O-line play is great, but that doesn't mean our starter isn't capable of getting injured on any given play. We need to have guys that are capable of playing at a high level at every position, especially quarterback. I hope the best man wins the starting job, but I'm not gonna diss Zaire just because he isn't a perfect fit for our "system". The guy is an experienced QB that has played against quality competition. I'd rather see a guy with his experience behind center instead of seeing Franks thrown into the fire against a team like Michigan. Besides, the last time we had a lefty throwing passes we won a National Championship. I'm typically one of the most vocal critics of Mac and Nussmeier, but sooner or later, one of these grad transfers are going to pan out. I'm not predicting a National Championship, but we could have a surprisingly good season this year. If Zaire can manage our offense, get us out of bad plays and into good ones, get the ball to our playmakers, and extend plays with his legs consistently, we'll be a very good team. We'll really know what kind of player he is after the opener.

This still amazes me that is has been soooooo long since we've had just an average QB.
Yeah...it's been pretty unbelievable...Hopefully that's about to change tho. I think it's a good thing IF he gets to come because 1) we need the competition 2) we need the depth. We'll at least have a decent #1 & #2 because Allen won't be ready for a year or two and in my opinion Del-Rio should never take another snap at UF.

They'll still bring Toney in the game for a couple of plays, and let him run the zone read exclusively. Like it will fool anyone, and get stuffed every time. With Zaire coming in, this kind of pushes Toney to receiver right?
Hard to say. I doubt it. Zaire will have so much to learn. Maybe they leave the wildcat package for later? Or maybe they just let Toney run it to keep Zaire from getting hurt. Remember he has a big injury history.

I really don't know what to think. There were lots of rumors that Butters N Nusschump were looking into making major changes to the offense, going away from their stale shyt they have been running, including, among other things, adding some QB running. Who knows what that will actually look like.

I EXPECT them to do what they always do. Play ultra conservative, tell the QBs not to push their luck, and punt. No reason to think anything else while these two are still here.

Has Mac ever been head coach and have a QB that he recruited to that university start one single game...ever?

Well I figure if Toney ever wants to become a big part of the offense, he'll have to be willing to switch positions. Let's be honest, he'll probably never be a viable option at QB, and just coming in for a few wildcat plays a games isn't gonna give him enough touches for someone of his athleticism. He could get moved to receiver and still do wildcat. I definitely want to see him touch the ball a few different ways in a game.

For the life of me I can't believe that LDR will ever take another snap. FFS the guy just had both shoulders surgically repaired this offseason. Shoulders don't ever come back anywhere near 100%. A qb has to land on one of his shoulders when he's hit. We're not gon win a natty this year and Franks needs to play to get better.

Nope...this was talked about alot about a month or so ago. Pretty unbelievable a guy that's been coaching for as long as he has hasn't been able to find/land/develop one QB. However he's been labeled #TheQBWhisperer :rolleyes3:

Toney is much faster than Zaire and more elusive. I really like his quick release.

To be fair, I don't think we want one of his recruits to start a game.

He has that going for him.

He was only at CSU three years. 2012 was a transition year and not his recruits. Garret Grayson was a senior in Mac's third year and was playing pretty well. Nick Stevens was Mac's 2013 recruit who red shirted his first year but got some playing time behind Grayson in 2014. Nick has been the starter since 2015 and has played well for them. So yeah, Nick was recruited and developed by Mac and has started for 2 seasons.

Weren't you excited when we landed FOUR STAR Franks or nah?
Versus landing nothing, yes. And at one point it looked like nothing.

However, Franks was always very high risk guy who would likely need years of development, much like Milton is also. Franks was a low 4 star kid because of all of his issues.

Spurrier one brahged to a Lester kid that he wiuld bring in two blue chip QBs each year, and he did. So did Zooker, Creyer, and Chimp most years.

Franks (or similiar) with Eason or similiar is the way that should have happened.

Remember one of those blue chippers Superior brought in, Sablehouse or something like that. He was suppose to be great, and didn't last no time. Wonder what ever happened to him. Also wonder how Terry Dean ended up.
