Mount Holly (N.J.) Rancocas Valley Regional running back
Iverson Clement committed to the Florida Gators back in April. The 5-foot-11, 200-pound back has been recruiting for the Gators ever since. One of his targets is Top247 safety
Kwantel Raines, who visited UF on Monday.
“I just tell them it’s a great environment, why wouldn’t you want to come there,” Clement said of his pitch to come to Florida. “If you’re a safety or you play DB, that’s DBU, why not come. He’s in PA right next to
Micah Parsons and Quon Anderson, so I’m talking to them too, so hopefully all three of them could have the same mindset as I do and join the train. Micah has a connection to
Justin Fields, they were committed to Penn State, so that would be nice if all four of them could come and change this whole class, make history. That would be huge.”
Clement has also been in the ear of Top247 tight end
Kyle Pitts. Clement is confident Pitts will commit to UF.
“He’s going to come on the train soon. He just left there. He built a connection with the coaches, and his family got down there. So, he will be joining the train too. That would be awesome. That’s five people that could possibly commit and change this whole recruiting class. It would make other people decommit, because they want to come play with ballers.”
This past weekend, Clement was able to watch Fields, a highly sought after five-star quarterback, throw in a 7on7 tournament. Clement came away impressed.
“This dude can ball, just the way he is, his character, his swagger. The kid can ball.
So where does Clement feel Fields lands?
“Right now, I’m pretty sure he’s open. I’m just staying in his ear. Not annoying him, just talking to him and building a relationship, that’s the key thing.”
Clement visited Florida earlier this month. He plans to return again in late July for Friday Night Lights.
“I’m just coming down and relaxing with the players and coaches. There’s going to be recruits there, so I’m definitely going to try to kick it with them. I’m going to try to get them to join the train.”
Beyond that, Clement will enroll early at Florida. He’s looking to use that extra semester on campus to prepare to play his true freshman season.
“I’m leaving early, so getting in the weight room, getting bigger and working with the track team, because I will be track there — long jumping. So, working on speed and lifting. I’m definitely going to try to make an impact my freshman year playing wide receiver and running back, special teams, because I feel I’m very versatile and can impact the team in many ways.”
The 247Sports Composite, an industry generated average, currently ranks Clement as the nation’s No. 287 overall prospect in the 2018 class.
