I've followed recruiting pretty closely for basically the last 15-20 years and i don't remember ever recruiting this many three star kids. I know this is where our program is right now and I am trying to adjust my expectations. I just think it's nearly impossible to catch Bama and Fsu if we are not playing with comparable talent.

Clement looking to get others to commit
Gators commit looking to get other top recruits to join him at UF.

http://florida.247sports.com/Articl...rson-Clement-looking-to-get-other-to-53297802

Mount Holly (N.J.) Rancocas Valley Regional running back Iverson Clement committed to the Florida Gators back in April. The 5-foot-11, 200-pound back has been recruiting for the Gators ever since. One of his targets is Top247 safety Kwantel Raines, who visited UF on Monday.

“I just tell them it’s a great environment, why wouldn’t you want to come there,” Clement said of his pitch to come to Florida. “If you’re a safety or you play DB, that’s DBU, why not come. He’s in PA right next to Micah Parsons and Quon Anderson, so I’m talking to them too, so hopefully all three of them could have the same mindset as I do and join the train. Micah has a connection to Justin Fields, they were committed to Penn State, so that would be nice if all four of them could come and change this whole class, make history. That would be huge.”

Clement has also been in the ear of Top247 tight end Kyle Pitts. Clement is confident Pitts will commit to UF.

“He’s going to come on the train soon. He just left there. He built a connection with the coaches, and his family got down there. So, he will be joining the train too. That would be awesome. That’s five people that could possibly commit and change this whole recruiting class. It would make other people decommit, because they want to come play with ballers.”

This past weekend, Clement was able to watch Fields, a highly sought after five-star quarterback, throw in a 7on7 tournament. Clement came away impressed.

“This dude can ball, just the way he is, his character, his swagger. The kid can ball.

So where does Clement feel Fields lands?

“Right now, I’m pretty sure he’s open. I’m just staying in his ear. Not annoying him, just talking to him and building a relationship, that’s the key thing.”

Clement visited Florida earlier this month. He plans to return again in late July for Friday Night Lights.

“I’m just coming down and relaxing with the players and coaches. There’s going to be recruits there, so I’m definitely going to try to kick it with them. I’m going to try to get them to join the train.”

Beyond that, Clement will enroll early at Florida. He’s looking to use that extra semester on campus to prepare to play his true freshman season.

“I’m leaving early, so getting in the weight room, getting bigger and working with the track team, because I will be track there — long jumping. So, working on speed and lifting. I’m definitely going to try to make an impact my freshman year playing wide receiver and running back, special teams, because I feel I’m very versatile and can impact the team in many ways.”

The 247Sports Composite, an industry generated average, currently ranks Clement as the nation’s No. 287 overall prospect in the 2018 class.

GATORS IMPROVE CHANCES
WITH BRIGGS AFTER VISIT

http://www.gatorcountry.com/feature/florida-gators-improve-chances-with-briggs-after-visit/

Wednesday was a busy day for the Florida Gators football staff as they hosted two big targets for the 2018 class on visits.

One of those was defensive lineman Dennis Briggs (6-4, 252, Kissimmee, FL. Gateway) who got to see a lot of things that he wanted to see.

“The visit was great, I liked the visit,” Briggs said of his visit to Florida on Wednesday. “It was great being back at Florida and great hearing from the coaches. It was great seeing everything. We took a tour to see everything and got to see the basketball arena.”

A few of the Gators coaches were on vacation on Wednesday but Briggs still had the chance to talk to a majority of them.

“Coach [Randy] Shannon, Coach [Brad] Davis and Coach Mac,” he said on the coaches he got to speak too. “I talked to a few more of them but mainly those three coaches.”

Defensive coordinator Randy Shannon spent the most time with Briggs on Wednesday and explained just want coming to Florida should mean to him.

“He was just keeping it real with me and saying it isn’t all about football,” Briggs said of Shannon’s message. “He said that academics are always a first and that I’m not the only person they’re recruiting so if I come to Florida, I’m coming there to compete. He said that I would have a chance to play early because they recruit guys who can take someone’s spot.”

Head coach Jim McElwain also explained how bad that the Gators really want Briggs in this year’s class.

“He was just telling me that the Florida brand is something special,” he said on McElwain’s message. “He said that’s all family and he let me know that I’m welcomed at Florida anytime. He said he would love to have me.”

This was the first visit to Florida for Briggs since he picked up his offer this spring and he says the visit was a positive for Florida.

“It helps them out a little bit,” Briggs said on if the visit improved Florida’s chances or not. “I would say that I have high interest in them after this visit. This was an eye opening visit and it raised the interest for me.”

Now that Briggs has visited Florida, he says he may return in July but he’s in no rush to make any decisions.

“After the season,” he said on when he wants to make a decision. “I’m going to take some official visits and stuff first.”

INSIDERS TAKE: Florida, Florida State and Miami are all schools mentioned by Briggs a lot but it looks like he will continue to take visits before narrowing things down. Florida likes Briggs as a hybrid guy that can play both defensive tackle and defensive end.

Better than a separate thread every time a recruit sneezes.
Yes, by all means, have one giant, useless thread with all the info buried two pages back.

I'm sure Ox prefers fewer threads and fewer clicks.

“Neurotics complain of their illness, but they make the most of it, and when it comes to taking it away from them they will defend it like a lioness her young.”
― Sigmund Freud

There are a few posters on this board that will never admit it, but they would rather be right and have something to complain about than be wrong and see Mac succeed.

Donkey isn't one of them. I'm not saying he is neurotic, but the analogy is the same. He will continue to complain about something no matter the circumstances. He is truly the lioness about which Freud spoke.
