Is this the 10th assistant coach position getting filled?

No, that hasn't been approved yet (supposed to happen after the season ends). If he's "coaching" it has to be a GA position (and the article Law linked says he's finishing his degree). Analysts can't "coach" (officially).

Good guy and glad he's on board but why are we hiring coaches with zero experience? I thought the days of hiring coaches from north Texas and FAU were over.

Oh well, Mac's & Co's. OJT continues.

Multiple former teammates at Florida, younger and older alike, labeled him as a coach on the field. Ahmad has given pointers to a wide array of legendary Gator defensive backs, from Tony Joiner to Joe Haden to Matt Elam. Each of them were different types of players, of course, but all share the common denominator of Black’s wisdom paying off in spades for them.

If he's a GA then that's cool. I thought the article said "Assistant Coach" which usually GA's aren't called that.

Edit, it actually says "coaching assistant" which I guess is a new PC version of Graduate Assistant.

I saw your first post and almost blasted you for sounding like a complete nimrod. Nice recovery.

FTR I love Ahmad Black. His "ask me anything" sessions on Twitter were hilarious. He's a good guy, and a great Gator with a lot of heart. I'm thrilled he's a GA here and I'm sure he'll be a quick learner. Too bad he doesn't have any great teachers.

One of the best form tacklers we've ever had.

Not the most physically gifted (and that's being generous) but the dude was never out of position and never missed a tackle.

I always thought he'd make a fine coach someday.

Wish him all the best.

Alex.

If we hire Black asap to coach & recruit, how lucky-rare to have a DB coach who played NFL so recently, coaching while he still has that muscle memory in his legs, along with sharpest still active neural pathways for teaching kids to recognize offense threats? He'd certainly be a no bs DB recruiter. Does the Lakeland area produce many 4*,5*H.S. players? Ahmad Black has the experience of a season's ever-churning to achieve a Gator NC. I'd like to see that.
