Best line in the flick was "Head...pints...now!"

Best line in the flick was "Head...pints...now!"

That whole scene was hilarious... the various big head analogies, the conspiracy theory, the rant about Colonel Sanders, etc. Then there's the anniversary party, singing Rod Stewart, "We've got a piper down! Don't worry, he's just pissed."

The dad was even funnier than Fat Bastard.

Hope we can hold on to this guy, looks like an animal. This will probably be one we'll be sweating out on signing day.

I'm just going to put this here (vs. continuing w/ the other recruiting thread), if everyone's okay w/ that:

Florida Gators recruiting mailbag for August 17th

http://www.gatorcountry.com/feature/florida-gators-recruiting-mailbag-for-august-17th/

The Florida Gators recruiting has been nothing short of excellent since early July when things really got rolling for the Gators.

Most prospects will start preseason games this weekend or next week so football season is officially back and before long prospects will begin visiting campus again.

Gator Country’s members have a lot of questions about how the 2018 class will shake out and who are the top prospects that the Gators are still after.

We answer your questions in this week’s Florida Gators recruiting mailbag.

Well let’s dive right in to this week’s recruiting mailbag:

74gator: For the remaining slots, what are the numbers for each position that you think we will sign? Who are the plus ones in this class?

AS: This is my opinion based off of what I’m hearing so this could potentially change but I would say it breaks down like this. 3 offensive linemen, 2-3 defensive linemen, 1 linebacker and one defensive back. Florida could also use a spot elsewhere to sign an athlete.

Gator_nica: Are there any current commits that may be told to look elsewhere if more pieces fall through?

AS: Prospects are continuing to be watched throughout the year. Do I think everyone in the class now signs with Florida? Probably not.

Indygator: Guess I’ll ask the obvious: Can you talk about the impact credit care-gate will (and/or will not) have on our recruiting?

AS: I don’t see it having much affect on recruiting because McElwain has taken care of the matter and suspended the guys.

Ncgatr1: Who are the defensive tackles we have a legitimate shot at and will we possibly take more than expected?

AS: Coynis Miller, Rick Sandidge and Miami commit Nesta Silvera are the three guys that Florida has the best shot at. Dante Stills would be in the mix here if he visits Gainesville.

Bamagator85: Who is a player that could surprise the gators and be in the ’18 class?

AS: Right now I think all of the guys that are interested in Florida are out there. I would say a name that most don’t believe Florida signs but could is Tyson Campbell. Right now Florida has ground to make up but they have the right people recruiting him.

MrB-Gator: Do you think we sign most of the current commits on Dec 20th (early signing day)?

AS: Most guys say they will but I think we will have a better idea for sure when time gets closer.

Mdmcgarry: Who do see as likely signees on the offense line?

AS: William Barnes and Richard Gouraige are guys that I think Florida is in great shape with. Nick Petit-Frere is a guy that Florida is right in the thick of things with but he’s no where close to naming a leader.

LEMONHOPE: How many players from American Heritage do you expect to be in the 2018 Class?

AS: I’ll stay on the safe side and say two but I think three is very possible.

Singles: AS – can you give us one name that you are hearing that now has interest in the Gators that might have not been mentioned here before? Thanks as always AS! You are the best in the business!

AS: Tyson Campbell and Nesta Silvera are two names that you haven’t heard a lot about as far as interest in the Gators until recently but Florida is in the mix for both. More names could surface when visits start happening in the fall.

Macbgator: Who do we end up signing at linebacker??

AS: The top guy is and has been Channing Tindall. Right now I would say he heads to South Carolina but Florida has really made this a close battle. It will be interesting to see if he makes it back down before he decides in September.

Ufgatordad: If we had our pick of any 2 between Dante Stills, Rick Sandidge, Coynis Miller, and Nesta Silvera at defensive tackle, who do you think would be the first two we take (highest on our board)?

AS: Florida would instantly jump at the chance to sign any of those guys. I would say Florida is in good shape with all of them except Stills who just hasn’t visited yet.

Thumper: How impactful do you think the home schedule this year will be on the 2018 recruiting class and 2019 recruiting class? We were pulling teeth last year to convince kids to visit Gainesville to watch a game.

AS: I think you will see the schedule have a big impact on the number of guys you see visit Florida this season. The Tennessee, LSU, A&M and Florida State games should be huge visitor weekends.

Jonsantiago1: Do you anticipate any more commitments and how many between now and the start of the season.

AS: It wouldn’t surprise me to see a commitment before the season at all.

Rrtrackman: Thoughts on Jamaree Salyer? I think he wanted to follow Justin Fields, but do we have a shot now having Corral?

AS: Georgia and Clemson have been the schools standing out to Salyer and I think he ends up at one of those two schools.

Jackgator2: Names to watch for 2019 quarterback?

AS: Bo Nix out of Pinson, Alabama is the only quarterback with an offer that I think Florida has a legit shot at and he will be tough to pull from Auburn where his dad played. The position will really see numbers expand once the staff is able to watch kids play this fall.

Scooterp: would we take 2 more cornerbacks (Bookie/Campbell) if they both wanted in?

AS: I think it depends on the numbers at other positions but I could see a scenario where they take both. Campbell is a plus one kid anyway.

(from gatorcountry):

There is a lot of information coming out and I have to tell you some of it is very questionable. By questionable I mean it makes little sense in what is already known. So I have been wading through things in a logical manner, attempting to put information in perspective.

Let’s look at #s. UF is at 17 commits for 2018. I took a look at the roster as to how many UF could take in this class. With the seniors, probable early exits to NFL and anticipated attrition I will stick with my projected number of 24 or 25. You get a +1 and you are at 24 then you will go to 25. UF currently has 17 commits which means if everything held as of today they could add 7 more commits and would take 8 if it included the right guy off the +1 list. I will tell you who I think are reasonable +1s at the end of the candy gram. .

Before I get to UF let me say that other programs are entering the same water. That is, how will they use their remaining slots. For Example as of this writing OSU has about 7 spots left with a board that is twice the number of spots remaining. LSU 3-4 spots, Texas similar position. Some decisions will be made by many schools in choosing if they let someone they like commit over someone they may like better but may not get in the end. With that in mind I list the pool of players that UF will secure their final 7-8 spots.

OL- Gouraige, Barnes, Peit Frer and Montilus.

DL Chatfield, Ojulari announced for UGA today and will fall off the board. Coynis Miller, Dante Stills and Nesta Silvera and a somewhat new name for some, Richard Sandige. He is projected by 247 to USCE.All 4 are still being recruited by UF. More on them below.

DB: TC (Tyson Campbell) is the number one guy with Frierson right behind him. UF is supposedly back in the mix for Tyreke Johnson (I don’t see it happening) along with Hadley Jones who may be rethinking things. Jordan Miner was an early UF lean who committed to PSU but UF could go back for a late push if they felt the need. I don’t think they will. Last but not least is Nigel Bethel. He was early on thought to be likely for the class. So you have several options for one spot.

WR: Has a pool of Scwartz, Hall, Ross and Pope. I think UF gets 1 of the 4.

PK: the only name I have heard at all is Conner Davis.

What is next: UF has time on their side. A good board and more names will pop up as the HS season starts and names are added to the list. Remember Brunson from last year.

+1’s: These are the +1’s in the order of highest probability in my opinion. As of now I don’t expect any in the class but you could get one.

Kwantel Raines, Micah Parsons, Channing Tindall, Xavier Thomas.

Coynis Miller: Now list UF as his leader. I told you last week that there was no reason to delay a commitment if he was all in for Auburn. My personal opinion is this is a trial balloon so to speak to get Alabama homers used to the idea of him going out of state. Now a lot can happen between now and signing day but as of now, I am putting Miller in my mock class.

Nesta Silvera: Things could change but as of right now I think Silvera will stick with Miami.

Dante Stills: Has tweeted that a commitment would be coming soon. Not a good sign for UF. If he decides to visit before his announcement then maybe UF has a shot. Early on he spoke as if he wanted to leave the state. My feeling is he has accepted the idea of being a legacy at WV.

Elijah Moore commits to UGA and could start a nice run for the pups. I think they lead for Fields as well and expect them to get kearis Jackson also. Add them to Zamir White and you have a nice little trio for Fields to start with. Ojulari right after Moore gives UGA some momentum.

Justin Fields: UGA fans are feeling confident and even some SOW fans feel he is headed to the pups. I believe they also lead for Little Cook.

Xavier Thomas: I’m not buying this rumor. Thomas is and has been actively recruiting for Clemson. The rumor in case you missed it was that he had reached out to the UF coaches. Could something happen? Sure it could, its recruiting, but don’t get too excited about this rumor.

Speaking of Clemson; The short UF tenure of former Clemson O-lineman Jake Fruemorgan took another twist. After enrolling at UF and then dropping out, it is now being reported he will attend Baylor. The whole saga of needing to get closer to his family is just bizarre. He will now be twice as far from home than if he had stayed at Clemson

Rick Sandidge: New name for many but he is a top rated guy. 4*out of Connecticut. I don’t have a good feel for him as of yet.

So with all that: I expect Chatfield to pull the trigger and as I sad above I have Miller in my class. Add the 4 O-Linemen, Frierson at corner, Scwartz ar WR, take any +1 and you have your class. That includes one de-commit from the current guys.

What about: Conner Davis, I don’t know but I suspect something is in the works.

I still think we lose both Williams and Gammage. Not sure the feeling on Wilson at CB, but he could move on potentially to make room for guys.

I'm not sure we lose both...but I would not be surprised if we lost 1 of those 2 WR's. We probably need neither at this point, but I wouldn't mind keeping Gammage.

I just think we can get better WRs and they will get pushed out. We really don't need 5 in the class, the extra spot could go to LB or DL

I guess it will come down to if there is one coming. 1 or both could get pushed out, I just don't think both will.
