Asheville has grown so much and the infrastructure hasn't kept up. Traffic in Charlotte is better at rush hour.

Personally, the area of southwest VA is impressive to me, Grayson County is the least populated county east of the Mississippi at last check.

I've always liked to dream about having about a 200-300 acre horse farm up in the Ocala/Gainesville area, maybe a thoroughbred retirement home like the one the wife and I visited in Paris, Kentucky a few years ago, and my own suite at BHG of course to compliment it.

East Tennessee up near the Seymour area near Sevier County is nice, outside of the Pigeon Forge tourist trap, but it is Tennessee, and therefore is automatically disqualified.

I'd love to live in Hanalei (my favorite place ever), just 15 minutes down the road from Anini Beach. But they did say to limit it to the lower 48, which for me would be either Seattle (where I live now) or Portland.

I love Hanalei Bay, and even further down the road Tunnels beach. I have a great shot of Tunnels from a helicopter. I'll post it sometime when I have my photo hard drive available.

So lower 48 states? I would choose Bend, OR. Love that area.

Thailand. Cops everywhere. People get along, or get their heads bashed in. It's a simple life.

I'll also say I enjoyed the Seattle area quite a bit when we were there last year and would live there in a heartbeat if it weren't cloudy 3/4 of the year.

Plus, you can easily find a person who looks like a woman but isn't really a woman so therefor no psychotic issues.

And yet, mostly known for prostitution, child sex tourism, and girly boys.

Color me not surprised at your choice.

They have some pretty stiff penalties (like including the death penalty I think) for drug dealers.

Exactly. They don't put up with stupid crap. Cops also don't stand around and do nothing but watch while people get attacked on the streets. If you think the only good reason to go to Thailand is for the sex industry, you have a pretty narrow view of Thailand. It's a beautiful country with beautiful friendly people.

Dillard, Georgia. Small enough for my country @ss, a flavor of the mountains, things to do within a short drive in several directions, a favorable climate. We've gone up there the last couple of years during the kids' fall break and had a great time. Oktoberfest in Helen was a highlight.

It's been a LONG time since I ate at the Dillard House. It rocked back in the day, and would assume it still does.

Maybe, but the only thing I remember floating in was a great quantity of Hefewiesen. I don't think I saw Mike Bianchi in his traditional German attire either, as the photo would indicate.

Had to go to a SPED/school law workshop in Thomasville this summer and we broke bread at the Farmer's Market. Right in the midst of the growing season, so the vegetables were out of this world! Thomasville has several other good restaurants...Jonah's (shrimp and grits as well as other seafood entrees) and George & Louie's (best hamburger around with Greek fare) are two of our destinations. Thomasville is only 45 minutes away from home, so we head that way when we get tired of the Tallahassee dining scene.

My buddy who grew up in Tville took me there years ago. His parents are both buried in Thomsasville. Food was great. When I saw the cooks
I KNEW it was gonna be great southern food.

Gainesville, FL baby!!

THANK YOU! I was wondering if someone was going to say this!

As a big time music whore, the music scene is the one piece missing from my area (besides my girlfriend, of course). I lived an hour away from NYC most of my life, so I was pretty spoiled in that area.

I never thought I'd say Tennessee, but I actually like where she lives. I'm enjoying the slower pace more and more each year. Plus, you've got all four seasons, and a music scene much better than where I live. And you still have the Southern hospitality.

I would be happy there. I'm losing my happy here, so I've got to do something soon.
