It's been a hell of a weekend, Gator Nation. While I know there is still a lot of power issues, and a ton of cleanup, the stress of the last week or so for both those of you in the line of fire, and people like me worrying about family and friends, has been just as impactful. I, for one, am ready for a release.

That first week game was enough to make a preacher curse and drink, and I'm as unhappy as anyone about the state of the program, our coach, our AD, our play (or lack thereof). But I'm making a choice - I'm choosing to be excited for the runup, for the pregame pomp and circumstance, for the tailgating, the look-alike thread...all of it. With a weekend of perspective, I'm excited to be a Gator!

When the first kickoff is in the air, and the game is played...it will be what it is. I might be pissed off, angry, disgusted, and calling for heads. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised, who knows.

But up to that kickoff, I am going to be JACKED about home opener week, against a hated rival, as if we are #1 in the nation and expecting an annihalation of these gap-toothed, plunger-ramming, sister-humping hillbillies! Please don't make this a "pumper vs dumpers" thread. Join me in a week of positivity - we deserve it...we can all go back to our regular programming once the ball is in the air. Go Gators!

First posted in 2015...

Let me share with you why I hate UT.

I am a lifelong Gator fan. I moved to Florida when I was 4, and was immediately enamored with anything UF. When I graduated from UF in 1991, my first job took me out of the state, and my climb up the career ladder had me move to Tennessee in 1996. I expected it to be a 2 year stint.

21 years later, I am still here. This is where I bought a home, the only one my family has known. We live in a great town, suburb of Nashville with good neighborhoods and great schools, good enough to get my oldest daughter into UF. She is a junior this year. It's really almost perfect.

Listen...my hatred for Clown College and Leghumper U is appropriately at a level so deep, so dark, that you would never speak of it at cocktail parties. Women and children weep. But living here for 19 years has elevated my hatred for UT to similar levels, despite the dominance we've had for most of my years here. Why?

First, that ****ing orange. It's everywhere. Shirts. Hats. Trucks. Hair. Signs. It's just hideous- the putrid, pumpkin shade of orange you only see in those little 4-pack of waxy, useless crayons made in Korea that kids get at sh!tty restaurants. I drive 10 miles to Lowes instead of 1/2 mile to Home Depot just to avoid that.****ing.orange.

Next, their fans are morons. Not garden variety idiots mind you, but the fat, ugly, smelly, truck-stop hat wearing, cross-eyed, yellow-toothed, spittle when they talk mentally-defective imbeciles. They usually have sh!t all over their face when they eat. The men wear overalls, and the women muumuus. They talk sh!t all year, convinced that this is the year when it turns around to their former glory. I've been flipped off, honked at, and yelled at (in an unintelligible string of grunts) for having a gator plate on my car.

But finally... and really the reason bigger than all others...

That ****ing song.

They play it everywhere. EVERYWHERE! At the grocery store, in the elevators, at the high school games, in the parades, at funerals. It's nails on a chalkboard. You'd think it was the gap-tooth national anthem. The hillbillies stand at attention, with their crossed-eyes staring off in space like a dog hearing a high pitch whistle. I hate that ****ing song. When it comes on, my wife hides all sharp objects for fear that I will jam them into my head in an attempt to burst my eardrums.

My only salvation has been the winning streak that, each year, makes these half-witted prairie dogs go back into their holes to lick their wounds. I need 3 more years. When daughter #2 graduates, we are putting this place in our rear view mirror, never to return. Not because of our town (we will miss it), or our friends (from Vandy), or our home we came to love. No, it's because of that song.

That ****ing song.

I am coming down Saturday for the game, and will leave without a voice, which I'll leave in the stands. If I hear any hint of "that song", hide the pencils.

Go Gators.

And before anyone says "how is this positivity?"....I positively hate UT!

I totally agree with your premise but someone else said it best...hope is not a plan. I refuse to walk around in a fake state of euphoria. Pretend everything is wonderful? Hell no. If I'm pleasantly surprised...great. But I refuse to be a simple Jack.

edit: I'll add a F UT...the heat and no sleep is getting to me

I hear you F - we have to win this game! This is the most important game of Mac's career here. A season could still be shaped if we can get past TN - something we used to take for granted. I hope Mac's head has been permanently removed from his azz cause he'd better have this team ready!

I would rather listen to nails on a chalk board, someone scraping that freezer frost out of a freezer, microphone feedback, someone dry heaving, a dog licking its crotch, a fork scraping across a plate, Justin Bieber, and this:

than listen to that awful rocky top song for 1 second. Ever since that douche Casey Clausen played that song in the stands in 2003 I have loathed that song.

Well done, bravely done FBNAG8R. Does UT have any ranking worth ... I mean any pundit think them a good team? They seemed to have scored lots on cupcakes, something we can't do. Still, my positivity goes up by believing Franks is going to lead these "Boys of Florida" to a win ... a showing performance promising wins to come. Our guys best on the field of play is needed to keep our fine recruit commits on-board.

We've gotten stuck with MSU's Stricklin, so we're long-stuck with Mac, but if some other OC with a record of 50th ranked offenses can be hired from almost anywhere, then let ness go, in a boot. Bring in a pass-oriented OC that Caroll and his WRs will belive in.

This game will tell us a lot about the direction of this season. Sure, there are a ton of excuses that can be made due to the weather/suspensions/distractions, etc. But if this team sh*ts the bed again (like week 1) we'll know. The sad truth is....most of us already know. After 28 games, it is what it is. But out of respect for BNA, I won't go any further...

I'm not disagreeing...I'm just choosing for these few days to ignore it, and to enjoy being a Gator. The home opener is special. Everything leading up to it is special. It's been a bad couple of weeks, and we need to have fun. I'm choosing, for 4 days, to be pumped. It might all go away at 3:35 Saturday.

I was talking to someone at work about this today. It's just been such a f*cked up mess of a week and a half since the Michigan game, I'm just ready to let loose and have a good time this weekend. Can't wait.

Apparently Mac didn't read the thread because I've seen more life at a funeral.
