Well it's like I said to those who thought Franks played bad; he really didn't. Made a few mistakes but actually looked like a QB out there who can play in the SEC.

Coaches did a big disservice by pulling him for Treon Jr

Franks played well for a Redshirt Freshman in his start in a hostile environment. I still have no clue why the staff pulled him, other than they panicked after a fumble which was made trying to make something happen.

^ This...

Yet this same staff that left Del Taco in at Arkansas all game last year even though he was turning it over and hobbling around like the phag he is....

Yep. Shows time and time again how clueless this staff is when judging qb play.

That first pass to Hammond was spot on...absolutely beautiful and I was impressed. Franks will be fine, but the O line needs to do their job. It didn't help that UF had 11 rushing yards.

Agree. Other than, I guess, just not wanting him to take any more hits in a game they felt was already over, I can't see any reason not to let him continue. I also wonder if they'd have changed that if they knew there would be no scrimmage against NColo the next week.

But to the original point, that's exactly why I was frustrated with his presser yesterday. Michigan's defense is getting rave reviews, and for all we know, they could be a playoff team. And your RSFr QB, in his first ever game and start actually played pretty well. As did a few of the younger guys in the secondary. There are things to build off in that opening game. Focus on that. If nothing else, play the part of an excited coach who has a solid QB in the making and feels good about the upcoming game. Franks was probably the absolute last reason we lost that game.

Franks driskeled twice in that time he was out there. He fumbled the ball to Michigan with no defender even touching it as replay back view shows trying to bring it out well before the time to stretch it out for the first down mark and he made a mistake tossing the ball to the RB instead of securing it when his feet got tied up which could have easily led to a turnover also.

First game but didnt play well. Our O line was atrocious however.

I like Franks' attitude. He's a little cocky but he seems to have confidence in himself that he can get the job done. He's going to make mistakes, but I don't think he's going to let that get him down.

For all of LDR's '"I'm the Man" bluster he never really inspired confidence. An SEC QB has to be able to take hold of the reigns and "get it done".

Why am I not surprised that this was your takeaway from the game. In the Chat box you kept calling for Zaire and then disappeared when Zaire blew dick

Franks is the obvious alpha dog QB on our roster. You let him take his lumps while the game slows down for him because he's the future. Not a bunch of graduate transfers. We don't need the traveling QB quartet taking valuable reps away from him.

I'm still blown away that Zaire, who was reportedly very inaccurate in Fall Practice, and a guy who never even sniffed the field, were taking reps away from the only QB with a pulse. It's mind boggling.

As fans, is there anything we can do to help reinstate the grad transfer ban at UF?

I wish we didn't have Zaire as an excuse QB. I was somewhat excited when hearing that he wanted to come here but know now very clearly why he wasn't wanted before he came. I'm not even sure the guy has enough moves to do a line dance much less move around in the pocket to give enough time for plays to develop.

The OL is trash, including the much overrated "Tez". If they don't get their sh*t together the O doesn't have a chance. But, honestly, we can have these discussions ad naseum until this coaching staff is fired....

Prohibit them from going to class. Problem solved.

The problem isnt Franks. The problem is the fvkking pussies we have at OC and HC who think you must immediately bench any QB who has a turnover.

They are scared pussies who are too afraid to handle the job. So afraid of turnovers. Wuerffel and Grossman would have never seen the field with these pussies.

With as bad as our offense had been with the OL... I didn't mind trying Zaire out to see if his mobility would make a difference.

I had a ton of issue with putting in the read option QB and doing exactly what the defense expected. It also was clear very quickly that Zaire was not a "Spark" and once that was determined Franks should have been back.

The ignorance in coaching is out of control and I do believe it is a McElwain issue. The Michigan game was the game that flipped the switch for me... unless he shows against UGA, FSU, and Bama that things change he needs to go.

Ok but just pointing out what the reality was in that game. I dont know if Mac goes back to LDR if we start losing. It wouldnt shock me if he tried that however.
