We complain if they maintain the status quo. We complain if they try something different.

I have no particular hope that Nussmeier's change in location will significantly impact the performance of the offense but at least they are trying something different. As the saying goes, it can't get any worse (although technically, it could). There must be a reason most offensive coordinators occupy the coaching booth as opposed to the sideline. Maybe he will get a better look and call a better game. I will again qualify this sentiment by saying I don't expect much improvement but I remain hopeful.

Because, contrary to what most (all?) of us think, continuity is what would be best for the program. Another change, no matter the hotshot/big name that comes in, will mean starting from scratch again, most specifically in establishing recruiting relationships and all that goes along with that. I am beginning to believe that is what would be best anyway but it will mean a step or two backwards in the short term while our rivals, (FSU, Georgia, etc) take up the slack by using familiar faces and keeping established relationships in place.

Of course, now that I reread these thoughts I am still leaning toward just going ahead and cleaning house and starting over....the near future be damned. Tomorrow's performance may be the straw that breaks the camel's back.
Sunk costs.

Nuss has nothing to lose in this game. Tennessee is not a good team. Throw the ball deep as much as you can. Hope for some lucky breaks (our guy catches the ball or gets interference calls). If we are past our 40, go for it on 4th downs. Open the dag-gum playbook. Zook beat a good Saban coached LSU team with "Bubble Screens." The joke on the ole board was, "Every time you bubble screen, a kitten dies."

Correct, but I believe the play we scored a TD on was a beautifully designed play action. Leak was under center and I think they slipped Ran Carthon in at Fullback in the I-Formation. They play actioned to the TB, and Carthon slipped thru the line and ran down the middle of the field and was WIDE open. It was a great call and I am still waiting for one single play out of Butters where a RB is the primary receiver on a pass play other than a swing pass horizontally!

You are correct about Ran Carthon.

Ben Troupe is probably my favorite Gator TE of all time.

This also makes me wonder how we went from firing Zook mid-season of his 3rd year because of mediocrity to where we won't fire an under performing coach until at least the end of his 4th?

A few reasons. Firstly, Zook lost at Miss State who was beyond horrendous and it was Sly Croom's first conference victory as HC there. He was fired not too long after. Secondly, there was a young coach that others had a keen interest in. Thirdly, we had enough boosters who still remembered going to SECCG and winning, so they cared enough to put Errand Boy on the plane and tell him not to come back unless he had dry ink on a contract. But now we have a bunch of non knowledgable morons running the place and as I have said a zillion times, their easy out is that we have made it 2 years in a row to SECCG game. Forget that the East is horrendous and we just happen to be the cleanest dirty shirt in the laundry (some team had to be), but they can't see the forest thru the trees. They are end result oriented. They can't see that the quality of play has been horrible 95% of the time and that type of process will ruin the program. So for those reasons and of course money, Butters will remain.

With Nus in the booth he'll be better able to react to changes in the opposition's alignment. Say they do something really bizarre and put nine in the box. Nus can put in an extra halfback a fullback and run up the middle. SMH.
