Actually, he was holding it high and tight. Sometimes you just have to give the other player credit without taking it from your own. Watching the replay from every angle I can't see anything that Malik did wrong, and yet, the ball came out.

Despite his need for better ball security, he's obviously talented. If only he had a competent coaching staff to develop it. Butters and Nuss have shown they are incapable of developing talent. Sh!t, he would probably develop more just from playing Madden than learning from these incompetent condiment salesmen.

how much did massey actually play yesterday? I only saw him once where he almost came up with a catch in double coverage. Not sure why he's not on PR or KR at least since that was his specialty in JUCO

though I don't like it when ball carriers dive into the end zone unnecessarily, that is a reason to do so. Don't you think?

On one play the TE released (or missed) and the DE was on the QB before the TE could turn around.

Ball security is critical, and yes the RB coach should be drilling it into their heads though being a RB means they should already have it tattooed on the inside of their skull. Where I have issue with the RB coaching is...

This. Can ANY of our RBs block? I know this was a knock on Scarlett last year. Thank GOD we don't have him out there now whiffing on blocks, so the other guys can show their just as talented at it. I have no idea what drills you would run to get them to pay attention to this. Maybe 30 min of endless loop film of them whiffing spliced with guys who actually do it right followed by about 10 hrs of non-stop plays where you get the biggest baddest defensive players to line up in and rush at the RB over and over and over - toughen them up, get them used to picking up the block and fighting the defense off a bit. I don't like to complain, it tarnishes by pumper mentality, but the whiffs are killing us and doing so for WAY too long.

I believe that was one of those 'get it to our playmaker' calls, and unfortunately FF locked in on Massey despite double coverage. It was a pretty decent throw, given it was a poor choice to throw into double coverage. And Massey made a good effort. But the smart play, from what I could see on tv was a second WR dragging across the middle who had a lead on his defender and nobody else around for 10yds. Yeah, we need to get it to our playmakers...if they are open.

Yeah that sack on the rollout was a designed throwback to Goolsby. We've run it several times with success under Mac (most notably in OT against FAU). Goolsby just didn't hold the block long enough before bailing.
