didn't record the game, so I can't rewatch. how did the young guys do? In real time, they seemed to be doing well. Especially Slaton and Campbell

I think your right, they need more reps than they've gotten. Hell a bunch of the freshman do

I havent watched but in realtime they looked at least as good as our 1s and better than Ancrum. The best part is that we can move Polite out of DT. He is much better at end.

I recorded and watched last night but won't get to rewatch anytime soon.

That said, Danielson mentioned a few time we had rotated 10 guys on the D Line which kept our guys fresh in the 4th. Not sure how accurate the "fresh" part was but it's great to see we are getting rotation there. Unfortunately, Reese was gassed and where the LB rotation?

I seemed to notice Slaton making plays. I saw Campbell hoot and holler a few times like he thought he'd done something right.

It's a shame about Smith. Will he be back this year?

Smith wasnt playing anyway. They had him with the walkons during the spring game. Last time I checked we had about 8 defensive ends and I think he was at the bottom of the depth chart.

He was behind at least these guys:

CeCe
Sherit
Zuniga
Polite
Clayton
K Davis

4tg string at best. They really seem to still prefer big Eli Confliffe at strong side DE, too.

I definitely saw Campbell making an impressive play and then celebrate. Can't remember if it was stuffing Kelly or if it was an important pressure. Maybe that's why you remember him hollering.
Polite also was a surprise to me. I didn't know he was that quick off the edge.

Garcia was in there on quite a few plays.

It looks like Campbell was credited with 2 assisted tackles and Slaton with 1 assisted tackle. Slaton will be a real force next year after being in the weight room. Its hard to do much as a true freshman at that position in the SEC.

Haven't read game stats but Campbell and Zuniga met at the Volunteer QB at least once. Slaton had a bull rush thru Tennessee left guard and hit QB as he passed causing an errant throw into corner of endzone. With training and experience he will be a beast.

That was the lone sack of the game. They both received 0.5 sacks. We had a whopping 1 sack all game.

True. Pass rush has been less than stellar and I'm being kind. Shannon loves his 4-man rush and that only works if you have a stud or two that can collapse the middle and demand double-teams ala Gerard Warren, Ed Chester, Reggie McGrew, etc. Don't have that right now but Slaton may very well become one. Slaton's bull rush was as effective as a sack since it disrupted the QB's endzone pass.

Oh. Ive never even heard of him.

200 lb LB. Probably wont ever hear of him again. Rayshad Jackson Part 2.

We are also 6 deep at the skinny outside LB position and play walkons at Mike/Will. Good times. Ole Butters been fixing the roster, he has.
No worries you were probably bytching about something when we discussed that he could easily be the best LB in the class.
