Can that new hotshot coach for Syracuse with the hair helmet (can't remember his name) keep his momentum going, or will reality come crashing back down to Earth for them? Remember, Syracuse is a team that already lost to Central Michigan this year, and it's not unusual for a team to crash spectacularly after an emotion win.

On the flip side, Miami is a VERY mediocre team and their undefeated record is a joke. If I'm a betting man, I take Syracuse - it would be pretty surprising if they covered the 17.5.

Discuss.

I think he's a decent up-and-comer, but no where near ready for big time like UF. Let him go to Utah for 2 years and go undefeated first.

It's more likely his team crashes and burns the rest of the season after that win vs Clemson.

I'm not ready to anoint him with that title over one game. No one was calling him that when they were blown out by Central Michigan 41-17 a month ago. Yes, 41-17.

Side bet: does Bama cover the 37 point spread against the Vols!?

I think they do. Bama will jump out to a quick 14 - 0 lead early in the first quarter. The Vols will throw in the towel. Butch's ass is grass and a lot of orange lawn mowers are in pursuit.

As for as Miami - Syracuse I think Miami wins but doesn't cover. Miami did good when they hired Mark Richt. He's settled that program down and as a Miami alum he wants to invest in the program. My feeling is Richt would still like to be in the SEC and I know he liked the SEC atmosphere in Athens.

One game? Most of us have been watching this guy for the last 4-5 years.

I guess this is the new sportsbook since NV doesn't do it anymore...

That's interesting, since his name has never even been mentioned on this board in three years. I had never heard of him until the Syracuse game.

I’d look for a different game if I were looking to place a bet. Sometimes after a big win like Syracuse just had, the bookies will lower the spread to capitalize on the residual hype of the next great up & coming team. I think Miami probably covers it, though.

Not surprisingly, Syracuse looks tired and out of sync. They were probably due for a letdown after last Friday night, but not to take anything away from them or their system, but down 13-3 at the half, and this is why I have never been a fan of teams whose offense is built on just trying to confuse the defense. hurry up offenses are trying to get defenses to make mistakes, cause confusion and wear them down. But when you meet a team who is playing fundamentally sound, not giving you those mistake plays, it then becomes hard for you to beat them in football, per se. They are not blocking well at the point of attack and the QB is throwing balls in hopes his guys will be open, like he has become accustomed to players running free due to defensive errors in the past.
