Belated thanks for all of the well-wishes. My liver is not speaking to me...won’t even make eye contact, but I’m sure we will still be acquaintances at least.
Drove to Key West from Ft. Lauderdale airport...the devastation in the lower Keys is epic. If anyone is familiar with the Big Pine Key fenced area with the strict speed limits to protect the endangered Key Deer...that fence is totally down, and you can see that the storm surge was ripping and above eye level on the fence. US 1 has piles of debris 5-10 feet high for miles and miles, and you could see barrier islands that were just...dead. All brown.
Key West was in good shape, and the high speed boat races were in town so it was packed. Veterans Day rocked, and my crew spent a shyt-ton of money to help boost the local economy, and those Conchs are a damn resilient bunch. The team wanted to pick a different spot this year, and
wouldn’t let them...I’m glad we didn’t change.
