I don't like it, but I am surprised to see others complaining. Apparently, he took the entire column from this board. All of his complaints have been voiced here.

In this one sentence he condensed what has been said a gazillion times in here.........I guarantee you he READS THIS place.....
You better be an offensive genius, a defensive mastermind, a relentless recruiter, a strength and conditioning guru, an exacting disciplinarian and a facilities architect.

As much as I dislike that short little bastard from Interlachen HS......(nothing against the town or IHS, beat them every year in FB) But yes, a HC at UF needs to be able to field a good offense, have a domninate defense, and recruit your azz off along with all the other requirements. So again, nothing earth shattering from that we didn't always know. And any school worth their salt would want the same. Tell us something we don't know Beeonkee!

Yeah and all of it true. So what’s your point?

If people want to whitewash and sugarcoat everything, then Swamp Gas is the place for them.

However, all of this mess doesn’t mean that UF football is dead. The right coach could rebuild the program quickly. That’s what we need to be focused on.

The content is correct. Jim McElwain couldn't have done a better job tearing down Gator football if he was deliberately trying to do so. The fact that so many, from the UF admin to the paid local journalists, knew it and looked the other way for so long is unconscionable. Who is held accountable for it? Jeremy Foley is STILL allowed to wander around those offices. Pat Dooley? Ho-hum, business as usual. It's outrageous.

It is amazing, isn't it, that Dooley, Andreu, Bianchi, Buddy Martin etc etc, you know, the "adult media" are always out there saying fans are irrational and spoiled and stupid when a coach is on the hot seat, and when the seat inevitably bursts into flames and the move is made, then they spend the next 6 months lamenting the fact that the bum let things get run down to this level, as if this was some sort of stunning revelation to them. Where are these guys during these lost seasons, asking the tough and incisive questions? 2 months ago it was "Leave Mac alone! He's building a program here and won back to back SEC East "titles" what more do you want?" and now its "This bum was the worst coach in the last 40 years, maybe ever." These guys are either UAA lackeys who just regurgitate talking points or are totally incompetent, and I am really tired of these has-been windbags lecturing everyone else about what "real" and "serious" journalism is. /RANT
This was a great post worthy of quoting. Incredible truth here. These guys need to be held accountable.

Most of this was a highly overstated summary of some of the things that Mac allowed to decline, most are things that either your staff or the AD will be taking care of.

Sure we need a competent strength and conditioning coach, and perhaps some better luck with some of our players not getting injured so easily. The HBC only needs to get the right person and his staff, not personally be involved.

Facilities are another area where the HBC does not need much personal involvement. Perhaps stupid Mac thought he needed to be personally involved and that caused some of his issues. Sure a discussion on what is desired and getting the AD to approve them, then get out of they way. We have professionals to get things built, you need to coach and monitor your team.

Now recruiting and team discipline are your direct responsibilities, but you also have assistants and staff to help with this. Developing your players as both football players and leaders has been massively inept. Your staff is another area where you are directly responsible, Mac was incompetent here.

We have some young players and with coaching and leadership we can improve rapidly, we need a great staff.

Yes the media has a role, but I blame AD management for not managing their HBC properly. He should have been told to upgrade his strength and conditioning and OC positions, not just suggested. He should have been told to improve his management of the press and his interactions with others in the AD. Or be told to hit the road for cause.

The next coach better have a good idea of what we expect of him, and it is not just winning games. Now his staff can get many of these things done, but they do have to do them correctly, not like Mac or really Chump either.

Truth hurts. I am not a Bianchi fan, but he nailed the state of our program. Of course it is easy to do now. I can only critique the lazy jounalism in the past. Many fans saw the direction and called it out. For that, we are “unrealistic and rabid” fans.

A month ago bi-honkey was blasting the fans for being mean, ungrateful, and unrealistic. Today he blasts mac for being and doing the exact things the fans were griping about.

Tell us all exactly how we should have been thankful last month, for the worst coach in 50 years this month.

Ass.

The right coach could rebuild the program quickly.

Take a look at the LA Rams and Jared Goff. The QB and the team are absolutely like night and day after less than one year with a new, innovative, aggressive coach. It can be done.

All of it true, except he didn't call himself out for not seeing it sooner and blasting fans for being irrational like the rest of the media. Thats whats nice about being the media, you're always right because you are the one being published.

I really dont think Pat Dooley knows a damn thing about football. He has watched a lot of games but he is incapable of analyzing. He just parrots what SID tells him. If they say X player is doing well and may win a Heisman, he prints it and goes back to vodka and ipodding.

In my younger years I had it in my head that I wanted to be a sports writer. While I was still in college I got hired by a local with a circulation of 150k and in no time was actually getting the byline. I learned the right way from guys that, while they all had their own things they'd become a Homer about, had the self-awareness to steer against their leans. It was actually the one department in that particular paper where you could actually trust what you were reading. I know from experience there is a fine line between access with coaches and honesty about coaches. I was taught to err on the side of honesty. There is always someone inside the program that wants to talk.

The old guard is too friendly with the UAA. They are in love with their access and rubbing elbows with coaches. It is easy to go with the flow, but the writers need to remember that their audience is the fans. They should be getting answers to the questions we're asking. Why were facilities and recruiting not made an issue at every single press conference? Why wasn't Foley pressed mercilessly when it became apparent we were falling so far behind? Bianchi, Dooley, Andreu, and Abolverdi should have been all over this.

Of course, he is a continual Chatter lurker since he wants to know the real pulse of Gator super fans. He couldn't learn anything from the other ADMIN and coach nutswingers such as Mutt and Jeff of Gator Country, the managing editor of Fightin' Gators who will remain nameless to protect the guilty. I could name others but I'm kind by nature.
