Not if he is doing his job. He should have been meeting with potential coaches as soon as the CC scandal occurred.

I have a sense that there were other issues in front of that. What consistently comes across about the UAA's relationship with Mac is the inability to mesh.

Isn't this the same Tim Jansen who is FSU's go to guy for athletes? Is there some reason I should believe he has insider info? Sincere question, as all I know of him is that he might have been a Gator alumnus and he did his job and lied his azz off attacking Kinsmam and her story through the news for his rapist client.
This is pretty much the dictionary definition of defense attorney. What is he supposed to do? "Yeah, my guy is guilty as sin; please put him in jail forever."

Agreed, there were other issues.

However, it's a problem we are just hearing about, and to a large degree, most people either 1) kept their mouth shut, or 2) are seeing the relationship in rear-view mirror. I don't think the rough relationship was the straw that broke the donkey's back. Hell the CC was probably not it either, but it with the poor play with Michigan, Strick should have know there was a very high probably he'd need to pull the trigger during the season, this season.

Before making the decision to do so, you need to have an idea of the future. Personally, I've never fired a person on the spot (2 hrs after the event the earliest). I've always had an idea weeks, if not months before. Generally delaying for the right moment - opportunity and/or future plan ready.

FWIW

Ultimately, McElwain was let go for (mostly) football reasons. But he was let go this quickly because he failed to endear himself to the people he worked with and for.

This thread needs a table of contents, an appendix, and maybe a bibliography...

I was told that he was ordered to fire Nusschump, but Butter refused and gave the old if you fire him, you fire me thing. Stricklin responded fine, sink or swim together.

Remember that the death threat BS was just the tip of the iceberg w him. There were alparently hundreds of incidents of insubordination.

Maybe the death threat was from Stricklin ......

Florida: Florida AD Scott Stricklin wants to hire Scott Frost (per same SB Nation report); however they add that “Florida is worried about Frost’s ability to build out a staff of SEC recruiters”. They add Florida would want Frost to retain Randy Shannon and perhaps other defensive staff members.

Pretty bold move to hire both Kelly and Frost

Love em or hate them, Urbs and Saban wont keep crappy coaches around.

Pretty much, but I didn’t like the fact that he let Addazio get a second season at offensive coordinator with us. Was not impressed with what he did in ‘09 , thought he should have let him concentrate solely on o-line coaching after that year and let someone else get a try.
