I was just rereading SS comments when he got off the plane last night.

“There will probably be some more productive conversations in the days ahead. ...Lot of interest in the job.”

I mean WTF is this supposed to mean??!! :what:

No Chip yet according to a report on the plane coming to Ocala. I did wonder why not fly into Gville, perhaps the leased plane is not in Gville. A fairly large and diverse group was on the plane including the decision makers. No Foley which will make many happy.

Either there is not yet a contract or Kelly is not ready to travel to Gville, perhaps both.

I don't see any need to actually tour UF, our facilities are well known and you do have Google Earth, it works pretty well.

Time will tell.

I had a very bad idea, how about we just hire Chip and Frost to be co HBC's. That would make many angry, and probably neither would like it but it is amusing to think of what say UT fans might say or do.

I've been at work for an hour know and I'm having to listen to all these dam vol fans run their mouths about this f'n crap. :suicide2:
Just give them that "I'm in the know..." look with a slight grin and tell them we'll have news soon and that you have a source. Seems to be frustrating everyone here, so I'm pretty sure it'll work on them.

more productive conversations.....on improving the program, because he's hired.
Lot of interest in the job....enough to sign the contract for millions

I think they are just going to settle for someone, maybe Taggert
Look just bc the Justice Brothers keep mentioning Taggrt doesnt mean he is or will ever be anywhere near the list. He is a losing coach. Thats the truth. We dont hire 45-49 coaches, book it.

I wish I could share some of the optimism here, but I can't. I think we got played. I think we went up there, Stricklin and Fuchs and Albert the Alligator, thinking we had a deal and had the rug pulled out from underneath. I think even Kelly may have thought we had a deal until UCLA called and offered him half the rights to the Rose Bowl.

Kelly either got the call while our people were en route to New Hampshire or he allowed us to think we had a deal for the sake of hearing our offer in person. Maybe, just maybe, we had a deal "in principle" after meeting Kelly and then the UCLA people called prompting a change of mind.

Regardless how it happened, we came back empty-handed, and frustrated.

“There will probably be some more productive conversations in the days ahead. … Lot of interest in the job.”

Those are not the words of an AD who just locked up his man. Maybe I can't read a poker face, but I think not. Nope, I think we're back to plan 1a, which is Frost, and that's not a bad option. Who knows? We may look back and say fate shined favorably on the Gators on Nov. 19.

As for Kelly, if he does choose UCLA, he gets his way but he loses a lot face. Not that it wouldn't benefit the fatass reflection in mirror.

Yeah. I’ve been skeptical this entire time and I still don’t believe we got him.

All this talk to UCLA makes no sense to me, there’s no way after paying a 12 mil buyout that they have the money to pay more than we can.

But. The road to a NC is probably easier there.

If I said that it would mean the following:

Obviously we don't have a deal yet, you can assume whatever you might want to.

We have options not just one "done deal".

I am not going to indicate anything other than that.

Pretty easy if you just read the words and not assume or imply anything.

I think it was pretty clear things moved quickly with UCLA. Florida took way too long in the process. Kelly had the appearance of a man ready to buy on TV earlier. You have to hand it to UCLA they have gone hard at Kelly and seemed a lot more ready to pull the trigger. It makes no sense now that they are coming on so strong NOT to at least listen to what they have to say. Florida has given it a good shot (albeit maybe a week late) and will likely match what UCLA counters with. Florida is clearly the more desirable job for the things Kelly has been reported to be looking for - and the fact he can't afford to fail at his next stop.

To be fair, you can’t read it you need to watch it. He does it while patting Buddy Martin on the shoulder. If you watch, sounds like he’s just saying things to not say things.

Can you blame him? The state of this program the last nearly 9 seasons...

We've been let down too many times. It's very hard to be optimistic at this point.

I only want people who want to be here, if he does not that is fine with me.

Now I don't live or die with the football team, we might be fine with our interim and a vastly improved staff including some young and innovative OC.

If we can't get an appropriate coach that is what I would do.

I will admit I'm allowing my emotions to spill out. I'm frustrated like the rest of you. He was in play, then he wasn't, then he was, now he may not. A freaking roller-coaster ride. After awhile, you wanna just take control of the situation, which you do through emotions.

We may still get Kelly -- it played out this way in 2004 when Meyer met with Notre Dame after Foley made his best and final -- but if this was truly the job his heart wanted, there wouldn't be a need to hear out UCLA.

Which means if we do get Kelly, we may only be renting him.
