Why would Fuchs go on flight with the AD to 'interview'? That is micromanagement.

Talking about the face of a franchise, UF football coach is more than just a position in athletics. Its the face of the University since Spurrier left. There is no telling the real damage Muschamp and McElwain did to it during their tenure.

I agree with Augusta, My take is that the contract terms were agreed to in principal by all, before this last trip. Fuchs went to eyeball Chip and ask him to explain the NCAA sanctions and get his side of the story. Assuming he got the answers he wanted and assuming he was comfortable with Kelly's demeanor we should have a deal. The" fly in the ointment" is the UCLA job and does Kelly want to pursue it.

So, the schools entire top brass flies 3 hours to where ever to sign the deal. That can only mean they agreed to the last detail of the contract and made arrangements to fly up there and finalize it. No way they left there with everything still undone....right?

Clearly you aren't familiar with UF's UAA.

Because of risk. Big risk. He has baggage. Fuchs will want to get a feel for whether he's fos or not. I imagine CK passed, but I would not hire CK without resolving this risk.

How much money did the University make off the UAA last year?

Yesterday, yes, what about before then?

So, what info do we have that tells us they didnt face time for several hours prior to flying up there OR who can verify that Chip didnt meet them in an undisclosed place? There is a counter for just about any scenario.

No no... Between Foley and Mac, no other two people have done more to irreparable damage the University of Florida football brand. Its abhorrent and I cannot believe people still hold Foley nor Mac in any sort of good graces. Foley seemed like he didnt care about the football program and only cared about divesting thr portfolio into much smaller and less profitable sports while leaving the cash cow out there to fester and become diseased.

Mac just... Wow... Mac just... Ruined the football program and drove it into a ditch.

Since that’s always been the 800 pound gorilla in the room with a Kelly hire, it makes no sense not to have addressed that up front before the really heavy lifting got started. If there are doubts about it at this late date, that’s troubling.

What the hell was all the talk about the contract negotiations previous to this supposed “interview” then? Everyone and their mother seemed to have the inside track on the negotiating to CK’s contract. You mean to tell me for more than two weeks, last night was the first time he’s been interviewed? And if it was a good interview, with everything that’s already transpired, the contract deal never got thrown into the situation?
