He's getting $ from both philly and San Fran..... like 6.5mil
Not doubting the money. I’m doubting the timing that just so happens to coincide with the last game of our season.

Okay, well there's an angle we haven't heard. He kisses 5 million away if he takes the job before the season ends.
Garbage. Absolutely, positively, the most ridiculous reason in the world. See my explanation in the chat window. I know I am new around here and don't post much but IF...and that is a big IF...this is true, the lawyer who can't write a contract to get around this "pre-existing" clause should be disbarred. This is a simple matter of semantics that is easily covered with a MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) in the contract that commits the parties to the agreed upon terms upon signature BUT postpones and or precludes any compensation or benefit that would nullify a preexisting contractual item from a previous employer. Done all the time. Seriously...

This might have been mentioned somewhere before in the 180 pages of info. David Dunn, Chip Kelly's agent, is a UCLA alumnus. That will not be a deciding factor in Kelly's ultimate decision, but it is an interesting tid-bit.

On the matter of Kelly signing with UF I don't understand with something this big, if you had everything pinned down why would you wait to announce it? If it was a done deal surely that information would be leaked already so you might as well go ahead and announce it. No need of letting rumors and mis-information continue to swirl. Nothing is gained by that and potential harm could be done.

I just talked to John Ivory and asked him if Buddy elaborated on why he must wait until the end of the college season. He said that the implication was that his contract said Chip could not be a coach with a team until the following season (2018). If he were to be hired by any team (pro or college) before their (respective) 2017 season was over that technically he was hired during that season even if he performed no coaching duties. So, it kind of makes sense.

This item was brought up oh, say 20 pages ago(?), and a counter to that would be to say as was said ( forgive me for not remembering who) then - it would be a simple begin date/fill in the blank on the papers, no? In essence, sign for the 2018 season. Have the papers say so, no?

Follow the UCLA visit: their sources say a meeting hasn’t happened yet. They reversed their previous info that they already had.

If he meets, he’s not signed. It’s that simple. It’s going to be a long week.

I'd agree with that.

This makes a lot of sense with what went on last night. They clearly told the team Chip was the new coach. This is why all the team could do was post a stupid emoji and not actually say anything.

Either way nothing beyond announcing a coach not named Chip Kelly will convince me it wasn't signed last night.

It's done he's our coach not sweating it anymore. Go Gators

Because of risk. Big risk. He has baggage. Fuchs will want to get a feel for whether he's fos or not. I imagine CK passed, but I would not hire CK without resolving this risk.

How much money did the University make off the UAA last year?

Talking about the face of a franchise, UF football coach is more than just a position in athletics. Its the face of the University since Spurrier left. There is no telling the real damage Muschamp and McElwain did to it during their tenure.

Good Lawdy ... if I was an AD and you were the President, I would ask why the hell you pay me so much money. So ... you think Fuchs doesn't trust him enough to find the right guy all the while back briefing what is going on? Totally disagree with y'all on this.

I wonder if Fuchs met with McElwain? I honestly am surprised that Fuchs flew up there last night to be honest.

The wrinkle is that you telegraph also-ran to your other potentials in a seller’s market. Doesn’t your scenario assume an agreement in principle?
Yes. Transparency is crucial. Issues and open items must be above board.

I'm not a lawyer but I agree and think the excuse sounds bogus.

No. The risk was not there. The dollar value also not there.

Not announcing it for a week is a pretty simple way of writing a contract to get around it.
It's not like they have to wait till next season to announce it. A week is not really a big deal.

So your presumingnthat we dont have an agreement, bc you believe Dooley, I guess, despite the fact that he usually is correct only by accident?
