Maybe I need to rephrase – how could they? What legal leverage do they have to do something like that? The commissioner works for the presidents. Not the opposite way.

Unless the president is doing something that legally binds or damages the SEC, why would the other presidents use the commissioner to force a sanction? Particularly against a powerhouse like UF?

I don't know what our contract with the SEC says, but I bet the contracts with the bowls might include that you are going to send a representative if one is eligible. I do know that they say how many tickets each team is going to cover and if you don't sell them the school pays.

If it is being covered by the SEC network that contract might have something in it.

Couldn't a good lawyer in fact make Kelly lose that 5 million, if it is even true, if he had signed the contract to be head coach before the season is over regardless if it is announced or not? This is why I have my doubts that his signature is on anything at this point. I hope I am wrong.
It was reported somewhere that the contract was still missing one signature from someone at UF.
Maybe that is the case and that's why, the contract can't be official till all the signatures are on it.

Fields was Georgia all the way. I don't think we'll get him, and I'm very hopeful Corral sticks if we make a hire soon.

I totally get that, but wanted to point out that they can't really have anyone in the mix until after the season ends...
And yet we or gauging interest and checking the sticker price on numerous other coaches this year already.... but we arent window shopping now.

We all know the difference a quality QB makes to a program. This may sound crazy but if Corral is all he is made out to be, the school would easily surpass an extra 5M in football related income based on apparel, bowl game payouts, etc should Carrol live up to the hype. Following this logic, give CK a 5M incentive in his contract that he lands a consensus top 2/3 QB in this signing period KNOWING FOR A FACT that a good QB @ UF in CK system would net the university 10X the incentive payout in extra football related revenue. That allows CK to be announced early, Corral to meet his new coach, and the MOU I mentioned yesterday becomes a mute point as the CK NFL money is compensated for by the contract incentive. If would be risky for Chip but if he is smart, BEFORE HE IS THE UF COACH, he calls Corral and says, "if I am in can I count on you?". No tampering. No violation. Just CK, unemployed coach, calling a high school QB to gauge interest in playing for him. It is these simply remedies to these simple issues that lead me to believe this is not as DONE and many a reporting.
