Those involved on social media platforms have all kinds of ways to get notified instantly on their phones when something happens. There is some software now that can do the same for Gatorchatter. Set whatever you want to be alerted for (someone likes your post, a new reply to a thread you are watching, etc), and it will show up instantly on your phone. However, before I attempt to implement it, I want to know if there's a market for it. More and more people are accessing Gatorchatter on their mobile phones - nearly double the amount that were doing so 3 years ago.

So what do you think?

Discuss.

I voted probably not. I get push notifications for so many different things now that I would think this would just push me over the edge and start ignoring all of them.

But it seems like a great idea for people who would like to use them.

Why? I am in chatbox 24/7 and already get all the breaking news and rumors.

But I'm sure there might be some lonely people out there that would be thrilled to receive a text from you ox, make sure to include the tag line that you love each and everyone of us

Translation: I’m too cool, but I’m sure there are a bunch of nerds here who want it.

+1 Plus I don't use Gatorchatter from my phone very often.

Plus, it's kinda fun to check in after a few hours or in the morning and see all the likes and dislikes and PMs start popping up. It's like a winning roll on a slot machine.

I access Gatorchatter almost exclusively from my phone. With that said I’ve turned off almost every push notification from apps as I find them annoying and almost nothing (save personal texts and phone calls) requires my immediate attention.

I only post on my traditional PC. I do sometimes check on other devices that I am not signed into. Notifications would be nothing to me. Now if you want advice (remember it is only worth what you pay for it) if possible have levels of notifications so you can limit them in various ways. Perhaps you could send manual notifications when something significant happens, not just traditional automated ones.

Interesting concept. Imagine the push notifications for 1. Coach's daily breakfast announcement 2. Brad makes another poop reference 2. Jboss goes nuts again 3. BMF and Marianna make another post 4. Dubs and Queen have another way with words segment. The possibilities are endless.

That being said, I wouldn't use the feature.

You would have your choice to turn on or turn off many types of notifications. For example, I would probably only use it if I received a PM.

If it was for real breaking news, I suppose I would, but for likes, mentions, normal thread starts etc, I wouldn't.

I said no because I rarely use my phone to look at Gatorchatter.

Too much going on with my phone now so I would never use this capability.

I voted no. But if I could choose which ones (like PMs only) I’d say yes. Better than emails.

Options page looks like this. You guys could turn on or off whatever you please. It's not like you'd be flooded with notifications against your will.
