This is what Ohio St. did and it worked out well for them. Though, they probably had a back-room deal with Urban.

Based on reports his ultimatum is Sunday which is the day after the regular season ends. I would expect at this point for interviews to already be scheduled for next week.

I think we were wise in doing that. It lets everyone know where we stand. We can't let it be an open-ended proposition.

And in the meanwhile we continue to blow smoke up the a$$es of committed but unsigned recruits hoping that they like who we sign. The promise of getting a "good coach" can sure backfire if he doesn't get one that they perceive to be a good coach. It also builds a level of distrust with incoming players to a program where most if not all of the people that recruited them will be gone.

Here is another chink in the Kelly to UCLA narrative. Kelly was moved from Trace Armstrong to Dunn because Dunn did not want it to look like he was letting agents steer clients to their alma mater.

Now everyone is saying Kelly to UCLA, but Dunn is an alumnus of UCLA. So they would need to let another agent handle that negotiation, right? I think Dunn talking to UCLA was a courtesy or smoke screen to take the heat off of when is UF signing Kelly.

Bottom line, you don’t jerk your agents off huge contracts using an alma mater reason and then do that very thing to benefit yourself. You’ll lose your staff and your reputation. Quit believing every little distraction and watch the actions.

Until our board approves it? Are you kidding me? We sent the calvary to Portsmouth to lock up Kelly and now we're in a position of having to ask mother may I?

Not my view. I don't think we had the deal we as posters think we had. I think Kelly's as free as he was four days ago and that Dunn is seriously testing the waters at UCLA because his client has authorized him to do so.

Looks like 2025 and it might not go down that much either. I could see them streaming their content through the internet. Who knows what regulation (or lack of such) will effect the future.

Honestly, that might not be a bad thing.

All the others schools have been using the SECN money to expand like crazy and pay coaches like top 10 programs. We obviously haven't. If that dries up and they have to rely on their gate receipts and donations, maybe we will be back to being a top job again.

You know the way it works, at least two boards (university and UAA)have to approve contracts that large.

Look, I have no clue why it was said they wanted to wait til after the FSU game but they said it from the beginning. I can't think of a reason why. I thought that meant after Frost or Norvell were done. It does however appear to be some thing they are committed to.
