When?

It’s not an agreement. It’s not a contract. Zero point to sign anything if it means nothing. Absolutely ridiculous

There was a clause in his contract that gave him an annual window to talk to NFL teams. Don't you remember all the angst about him going to the Bucs before they hired Dungy? It was huge.

I mean this leaves such a bad taste in my mouth. You make us vet coaches for weeks? You make us draw up language for you to get paid all your money? And then you want to think about it with UCLA BEING THE SECOND OPTION? They won’t and can’t give what we were told he wanted.

If this is true walk away. I don’t want him.
You really believe that guy? I don't

No. You don’t sign someone to a deal with a chance to back out and listen to other options
For all we know he just listened. There are zero rumors from UCLA’s camp that there’s been any movement at this time.

We should know by today if anything picks up with UCLA.

When things don't make sense it is always one of two things (or both):

1. You don't have all the information.
2. The information you have is incorrect.

... what does that have to do with signing or agreeing on the first contract to coach the team? Spurrier wasn’t given a window to back out of his first contract within days. That’s ridiculous.

That is very true... For the most part we are guessing and getting incomplete or inaccurate info..

To my understanding, he would have been allowed to leave for the NFL with little to no monetary penalty. I see a great parallel between that and the Kelly stipulation.

Let's get down on our knees and beg a coach to come here so the first opportunity to jump he leaves? Doesn't work...

@Joe_V_: My question would be to the administration: Why would you allow Chip Kelly to have a "back out clause" in the contract he signed. You may as well not even had him sign a contract. As soon as UCLA fired Jim Mora, you knew they were going to put the full court press on Chip Kelly.

I find this troubling too. I'm not quite at the point of "walk away" but I do hope that SS is vigorously pursuing other options.

What's Ox been preaching from day one? It's a f*cking business. College football has long since ceased to be about the game and school allegiance. It's all about big bucks and what can I extract from the other guy.
