We seriously have people on this thread suggesting Spurrier (who wants nothing to do with the full time HC gig) becomes a “gap” coach...

Chip Kelly has broken you all.

Nobody knows what is going on. Frost sags “I am my representative” and you all pretend he doesn’t have an agent? Plus.. he could meet with UF while spending time with his wife and baby. He is going to Nebraska anyway... Chip seems like a looney tune.

Honestly... I would take Norvell. Mullen if we had to and if he would take it.

I would be for a self imposed suspension of football activities before letting cousin Eddie within the city limits of Gainesville. His record against Top 25 teams is one of the worst ever and would end up having up rename the Swamp to the Titanic. I can’t think of one redeeming value Eddie brings other than UM dragged his a$$ to a couple NC’s during his visit to UF.

Yes, Chip Kelly to UF is done, but the real drama is now starting. Will Stricklin pull something amazing off or is it going to be a Foley 2.0 special. We're about to find out what he's made of.

By axing Butters Florida got a head start and tried to reel in the big fish during a time when they couldn’t speak with other coaches. Tomorrow is the earliest they could seriously approach Frost or other targets and the fact that they have a meeting tomorrow shows they didn’t have all their eggs in the Chip basket and have been speaking with his agent in case Kelly didn’t work out. I can’t think of a better way they could have approached this. If you believed all the rumors that’s not the administration’s fault, that’s on you. On top of that Ox got a lot more hits so it’s all working out.

So apparently Only Gators has the good drugs....

4:04 p.m.: ESPN reports that Florida is planning to meet with UCF head coach Scott Frost “this weekend” and also has Mississippi State’s Dan Mullen and Oregon’s Willie Taggart … along with West Virginia’s Dana Holgorsen and Washington State’s Mike Leach as candidates.
Lol if we hire Dana Holgorsen I may actually be done as a fan
No to DH, or DM, or ML, or WT. That is the saddest candidate list I've ever seen, and if that is really Stricklin's list after Kelly and Frost, we might have the wrong man at the helm. But it's probably just more BS being thrown around.

How about not running to NH with entourage to get embarrassed?

You think we were working Ole Frost behind the back of Kelly all along? Even though they have the same damn agent? Wow!

This looks like a goat fvkk so far.

However I reserve the right to change my mind if we come home w Frost.

The press conferences with might be worth watching with Leach

Well, I didn't believe most any of the bs flying around, but it was amusing to watch the 'story develop'.
The fact that our entire administration was loaded up on a flight to go begging, apparently, with no 'deal' in place is kind of catastrophic.
This happened. This is fact. It is known we went begging and came up empty. Everybody knows. Not good. Not professional, imo.

Given Kelly’s ego and deserved stature as the top available coach and offensive mastermind I don’t blame them for making the effort and going all in with the top brass. They put forth their best effort and showed legitimate interest from the top down. I would rather be “embarrassed” for putting in the effort than going half ass and then wondering if they would have landed him if they had loaded up the red carpet and take it to NH and went over and aboveboard what most schools would do. I dont see it as begging as much as effort. Giant egos need stroked and they did what they could.

“Working” Frost? Not really sure what that means, but having a contingency in case Kelly didn’t work out and wanting an answer from Kelly before the season ended when they could start discussing the job with current coaches? Yeah, I do believe it. Do you think they just picked up the phone today and said “hey Scottie, we will be in town tomorrow for a visit so make yourself available”? That’s how Tennessee conducts searches which is why they always end up hiring a stiff when they get left at the altar (next to their sister).

Wow, wasted a whole week checking this thread every 30 minutes to see when Kelly would be announced. Should’ve known it was to good to be true.

I agree with this, what a pitiful list if true.

It's time for us all to face facts: either UF isn't the destination we all think it is, or we have an athletic department that can't land the big fish out there for whatever reason. I continue to be completely dismayed that other programs are able to bag "their guy" and yet we are always turned away by the big fish and so we fall back to a list of unproven OJT types, proven losers, or attempting to find a bargain.

I reserve the right to be proven totally wrong and would welcome it, but it's starting to feel a lot like Stricklin is going to come back with a "why on earth" type hire.
