Never thought for a minute we were going to go out and hire Mullen. And if you told me not only were we going to hire him but we were going to pay him $7 million/year I'd have laughed my a$$ off at you for being an ignorant rube who had no concept of what "market worth" meant. Yet here we are. I'm bumfuzzled.

As I've stated before, after losing out on Kelly and Frost I couldn't care less who we got. I wanted a championship caliber coach who would clean house and start fresh. I didn't think any other coaches had that championship quality so whoever it was didn't matter. So it might as well be Mullen as anyone else I guess. I'll wish him well and hope he can turn things around. But I'm hardly excited or feeling too enthusiastic about the hire and have little faith we will be anything more than an "OK" football team.

I would have preferred Frost due to potential greater upside, but I think it is a little early to declare him "championship caliber".

I think I know what happened.

Strick swung and missed a grand slam and a home run. So he thought fvk, a bunt gets me on base. But he missed that too and decided to take the 4 balls to get on base. But he got caught looking and struck out too.

Well, after just his second year as a head coach he will be leading his undefeated team in a championship game this Saturday. I'd say he's got what it takes.

Hard for me to really get excited about Mullen, but I don't get all the b1tch-tastic whining in here. What did everyboody expect? Everybody wants to fire the coach at the first sign of trouble, and ..........

.

Yeah, I stopped reading right there. First sign of trouble? The signs were many and they were constant for 3 years.

Okay first, I'm not enamored with this hire. Mullen, Taggart, and Strong would have been my 3rd tier choices. I believe that they can all be successful here, but I wanted a young, innovative coach to shake up the SEC. And I'm not sure why we jumped from Frost (who I'm not surprised that we didn't get) straight to the third tier.

That being said, we got Mullen. And I do believe that he can be successful. You discount his record at MSU and the recruiting and competition environment, I don't. People on here quote his record against ranked teams but go silent when the same thing is said about SOS. People give Meyer all the credit with Leak, Tebow and the 2 NCs yet don't seem to realize the drop off after he left.

In summary, I'm not enamored with the hire but I'm not as pessimistic as some on here. And I really don't like the F-this and F-that and the name calling, etc. It bring nothing to the discussion.
We can agree on the name calling. I don't dive to that level but he does look like Cousin Eddie...you gotta admit that.

I don’t blame him. Go look up Mullen’s passing offenses in his time at Miss. St. You’d be upset too. More of the same coming to gator nation.
You guys do know at UF, Dan had one if the best offenses in the SEC over that timeframe right??
