I saw an article on 247 about Rumph and Seider going to Plantation to see American Heritage. I think Andrew Chatfield would fit in really nicely into Grantham's 3-4. I know everyone would be excited to land one of the two 5 star corners there. But we're so thin at LB that I think Chatfield is a really high priority.

You guys are crazy if you think our RB coach will be anyone but Seider. He is one of the true elite position coaches, great recruiter and a competent coach. RBs were the only strength of this team and you saw how the freshmen performed and the improvement in #24. All Seider.

However it wont surprise me if someone else outbids us for him.

We’re somewhat thin at LB. but we have so many tweener DEs that we can probably
Supplement LB with them. What I like about Chatfield is he could probably play Jack. He’s a nice DE/LB hybrid that would really fit the 3-4.

But it would really be nice for us to get a 5* stud at ILB. But it won’t happen this class.

David Reese is a top flight ILB though and it’s nice we have him. We should put the pressure on Dax Hollifield again as well.

Our LBs are slow. The unit is a weakness. Is there anyone we can snag that's huge and runs like a gazelle? Need talent infusion badly.

Completely agree. We must keep Seider. Great coach ......players and recruits love him. Really connects.

If I'm Dan Id be more excited about possibly going after Haggins to be my RB coach. He's a great coach and is really good on the trail. I'd be offering him a job yesterday
Haggins as in Odell? He's been a DL coach his entire career, which has been at F$U. Just led the team as the interim HC. First of all, I don't think he goes anywhere unless the new guy doesn't retain him, which I feel is unlikely. Second, Seider ain't too shabby as a recruiter and if how our backs performed this year is any indication, he's pretty good on the practice and game field as well.

The only position that really stood out as a positive during this horror of a year was RB. Seider is fantastic and cannot be a marketable commodity to any other team. Hopefully we have flushed most of the dead weight off the coaching roster, but NOT Seider. If anybody wants a coach they can have MacTard.

Florida recruiting: Latest updates on the Gators’ class

https://www.seccountry.com/florida/florida-recruiting-latest-updates-18

Florida’s recruiting class had some moving parts this week with the hiring of new Florida coach Dan Mullen.

The Gators lost a total of five recruits, including three 2018 de-commitments, but also dipped into the state of Pennsylvania for another offensive addition.

Where Florida’s class ranks
Florida’s 2018 class is ranked No. 11 nationally and No. 4 in the SEC, according to the 247Sports Composite. Eight of the Gators’ 16 commits are 4-star recruits. Florida has the SEC’s fourth-highest average star rating (90.11) behind Alabama (91.37), Auburn and Georgia .

Latest news
Florida’s 2018 class fell out of the top 10 after the losses of 4-star wide receiver Jacob Copeland, 3-star defensive end Taylor Upshaw and 3 -star cornerback Divaad Wilson.

It wasn’t all bad news, however, as the Gators convinced 3-star offensive tackle Chris Bleich to flip his commitment from UCLA to UF. He is Florida’s second pledge from Pennsylvania, joining 4-star TE Kyle Pitts.

Here’s the latest Florida recruiting news:

Commits (16)
Top 5 targets

5-star CB Patrick Surtain Jr., American Heritage (Plantation, Fla.)

4-star WR Jacob Copeland, Escambia (Pensacola, Fla.)

4-star OL William Barnes, Apopka (Fla.)

4-star OL Nicholas Petit-Frere, Berkeley Prep (Tampa, Fla.)

4-star DE Andrew Chatfield, American Heritage (Plantation, Fla.)

4-star LB Richard Jibunor, Athens Christian (Athens, Ga.)

Position breakdown
Here’s a breakdown of the number of commits by position and how many are projected to be signed at the position:

  • QB: 1/1 (Corral)
  • RB: 2/2 (Clement, Pierce)
  • TE: 2/2 (Lang, Pitts)
  • WR: 2/5 (Gammage, Thornton)
  • OL: 2/5 (Bleich, Dunlap, Gouraige)
  • DL: 1/3 (Upshaw)
  • LB: 1/1 (Reese)
  • DB: 2/4 (Russell, Williams)
  • ATH: 3/3 (Bethel, Burney, Williams)
Geographical breakdown
Here’s a breakdown of Florida’s commits by state:

  • California: 1 (Corral)
  • Florida: 11 (Bethel, Burney, Dunlap, Gammage, Gouraige, Lang, Reese, Russell, Thornton, D. Williams, J. Williams)
  • Georgia: 1 (Pierce)
  • New Jersey: 1 (Clement)
  • Pennsylvania: 2 (Bleich, Pitts)

Well... unfortunately I don't see anything new or exciting. Sixteen commits and 5 targets some of whom were commits. That's only 21 even if we get them all. Only new name I see is Richard Jibunor.
I don't see the juco DT Noah Jefferson. And we just offered TE Glenn Beal, That's 23. How many can we take? I assume with the suspensions we may be able to take whatever we want. Are we adding a QB (and losing a QB)? And we need more LB's.

Lots of work to be done.

Our lack of LB depth and recruits is downright panic-inducing.

the suspensions really don't have anything to do with it. we can take 25 plus the ones that can count back to the last class. I've heard like five of the nine can count back but I also heard 7. Depends trickey math all the way back to those small classes we had several years ago.

I think the numbers going to be around 30. We ve said that sumerous times in the past however and never gotten above 24 I think.
