3* MSU QB commit Jalen Mayden says Mullen and the UF staff has reached out to him, but he's told them he doesn't like Florida and is sticking with Mississippi State.

Article says Mullen was 1st sec coach to offer him and he visited MSU twice early on. Didn't say he'd commit just that he expects a call and will listen and visit if can. Interesting to me he's kinda reaching out to Mullen via media.

What I mean is that Mullen should lock Corral down and then go get a second QB. You don't send your little brother (Gonzalez) to entertain your hot date while you are out trying to find another one.

In a perfect world this would be the answer. I want Corral to stick but I dont think Mullen can afford to not pursue other dates during this process. Corral knows what Mullens offense looks like. If he still wants to come he will need to compete for the job just like anyone else. With his talents he should be ok with that. If he wants to be the only QB I am not sure he is the right fit. Again, I want him to come here.

Please, please Mullen, whatever you do, don't contact Tennessee's QB commit. His name is Michael Penix. God forbid we have rival fans replacing the X in his last name with an S.

Florida recruiting: Trio of defensive backs set to officially visit this weekend

https://www.seccountry.com/florida/trio-defensive-backs-visit-florida

Florida is gearing up for its first recruiting weekend under new coach Dan Mullen.

The Gators are expected to host several official visitors on campus this weekend, including a new potential target.

Trey Dean, a 4-star safety from Hampton, Ga., plans to take a trip to Florida. Dean was strongly considering the Gators early in his recruitment, but the departure of former defensive backs coach Torrian Gray hurt their chances.

The Under Armour All-American committed to Tennessee on Aug. 2, but the coaching situation with the Vols could open the door for Florida. Alabama is also in the mix for Dean, who officially visited the Crimson Tide this past weekend.

The Gators will host 4-star DB pledges Amari Burney and Randy Russell as well. Burney committed to UF as an athlete and could play safety, nickel, linebacker or possibly some offense in college. Russell will compete for playing time at safety next season.

Burney and Russell are both early enrollees and plan to sign with the Gators later this month. Mullen conducted in-home visits with Burney and Russell last week.
