The other thing is rematches which you'd see more often then you'd like. UGA v Auburn regular season, UGA v Auburn SECCG and UGA v Auburn in the playoffs. How many times do you want to watch that game. Worse yet how many times do you want to be in that game.

You are only adding 1 game that it is! That way there isn't a month off in between games. You play the first round 2 weeks after the Conference Title games and then play the Final 4 as it is scheduled now. Its ONLY adding ONE extra game. SO much excitement for 8 teams. People watch basketball all season. So much money is made on it and then even more made on the tourney. College Sports are the BEST baby!!

16 team field, play-in round with 16-5. 2nd round, 6 winners plus 3&4. 3rd round, winners meet to determine final 2 "play-in" teams. Finish as currently structured . Any lower-tier team that wins the championship will absolutely deserve it. The advantage of being in the 1-4 seeding makes the regular season count just as much as ever. Play the games in the top existing bowl venues and ignore the rest.

Fvkk that shyt. Fvkk it to hell. All of you die in a fire. Every fvkking one of you.

The two loss or even three loss shytbag team has any claim to a "championship."

This bullshyt will kill college football and make it into basketball, a sport no one watches bc the games dont matter until tourney time.

Want to get in the playoffs? Win in the first rounds, played in Sep Oct and Nov versus you Div rival, and the second round in the conf championship game.

Fewer teams should be getting a chance, not more.

This this this.

Well minus the die in a fire talk. Most of you generally seem like good people, this aside.

It is a price that Im willing to pay.

Well if that happened there'd be nobody left for you to berate on this message board. You'd be left holding your d!ck in your hand, staring in the mirror and saying what a worthless piece of sh!!t you are... It'd be embarrassing really... And nobody wants that for you... and dare I say, nobody wants you to have to pay the high price of them dying in a fire.

Going to eight teams will resolve all of the controversy. ...until it goes to 8, then there will be further controversy. I would be fine with just two teams in most years. The regular season should count for more. The BCS was vilified, but its purpose was to id the two top teams and I think it did it's job much more often than it failed to do it.

I understand that the schedules aren't always comparable between teams between conferences and that is a big part of the push for more teams. However, the regular season gives us more than enough evidence to judge the top 4 teams and the 4 most deserving teams. If we're debating whether a team is 4th or 5th, that team hasn't done enough to earn it and the axiom 'beggars can't be choosers' should apply.

They should do away with that bull **** idea of playing the playoff games in bowl game stadiums. Should be played at the higher ranked teams home field. Then alternate the national championship every year between the Rose, Fiesta, Sugar and Orange.

College basketball is full of great rivalries (UF-UK, Duke-UNC, UConn-Syracuse, etc) that are always exciting and fun to watch. March Madness does nothing to diminish the luster of these great regular season games. Sure, there are some fans who only watch come tournament time, but there are also people who only watch the national championship game, the Super Bowl, and the World Series without caring for the regular season. If you're a serious fan of the sport, you'll watch it all, and it will always be meaningful.

How many games are we gonna ask these kids to play? Even if we move it to 8 teams the 9th team will be pissed that they didn't get in. When does it stop?

The line about too many games for these kids is weak sauce, and we all know that t loves the sauce. I took the 5A page to post for this years Florida High School playoffs, the teams in the finals played 15 games, this is high school kids without the resource like a university with S&C, nutrition, etc. And we all know the FCS teams have been doing a playoff for years.

I can't see it moving beyond 8, as the logistics of pairings and time would render it null, 8 teams it will be, and world will adjust and move on like all other changes.

Without the psychosis and dumping on basketball, I'll echo what Law said. We don't need an 8 team playoff. The first team left out is always going to gripe whether it's 2, 4, 8, 16 or 100 teams. That doesn't mean we should be letting every team with a gripe have a chance at winning the title.

Agreeing with both Sas and Law makes me question all of the choices I’ve made in my life. I feel so dirty.

As soon as this current contract runs out, the playoffs will move to the 8 team format. It solves a lot of the major problems, allows a Power 5 conference champ to be in, there are 5 teams, then the next highest ranked with a tweak here or there.

It's coming baby, because that which makes the world go round, money, will make it happen. And when you see an article in Business Insider covering it, the wheels behind the scene are already being greased.

We'll be in 2020 !! :pumper: Go Gators :pumper:
I think the playoffs should be a tournament of champions only, with the conference championships being the opening round. The latter part of the regular season should be hyped up as elimination games. I don't think Alabama should be in it this year or osu last year, they really won nothing but are receiving a type of sports welfare. While the Basketball Tournament is exciting it makes the regular season a yawn and watered down. Nobody even knows or cares who won their conference.

I'd support an 8 team playoff, and think it probably should have been from the get go.
I'd also support allowing the P5 conference champs to have automatic bids so long as said team has not exceeded 1 loss. Losing 2 or more games wouldn't necessarily exclude a team from a playoff, but their bid would no longer be automatic.
This would both keep the importance of the regular season as well as allow for an up and coming team at least the opportunity to play for it, provided they are playing well enough and have played a tough enough schedule to warrant the ranking.
