Some GatChat stat-man could list last 10 years bowl records for the various conferences. Will that show that the SEC has merely lost to some exceptional athletes going to other conferences to assure themselves playing time?

Clemson's QB Watson was the difference in winning that natty, just barely. Has the same conference won the natty 7 straight years yet? or is it all the various conferences added together compared to the SEC? Are many hypercritical, hyper-disappointment because the SEC has dropped back towards the pack?

The conference doing poorly hurts us in the long run. UGA getting in the playoff is a result of us dominating everyone for the last 10+ years. The yokels that think it's a good thing are clueless.

UGA got in because they won the SEC and avenged their only loss in the process. Alabama got in based on having just one loss on the road to a bitter rival. Their dominance may have boosted their case.

Thanks. Correction...the SEC dominance helped it get in an extra team. If you don't think dominating college football for a decade helps the perception of the league and in turn helping any team in the playoff discussion...you're clueless.

Edit - not you in particular

Wouldn't the only possible team to be considered over Alabama be Ohio State, but they got clobbered by Iowa State worse than Bama got beat by Auburn. So, IMHO Bama deserves to be in these playoffs. Plus, surely nobody thinks Bama doesn't have what it takes to win the whole thing?

I don't think anyone said that or was arguing anything close to that. I think it is pretty obvious that you want your conference to do well in OOC match ups.

I don’t disagree - and in Bama’s case it’s their program plus the conference.

And don’t worry, I don’t take any of this personally or myself too seriously.

Agree to disagree, I still think conference champions should only go to the playoffs. Ohio St last year, Bama this year had their chance and didn't measure up. As much as I hate uga, they earned the right to represent the SEC. If Bama wins out it cheapens the SEC title. My Dad never saw an SEC title that stood up.

When Michigan is done slapping around the fighting Muschamps, the Big 10 will go undefeated. It helps the conference next season if the same scenario happens again

The SEC doesn't appear to be faring too well right now going 1-3 in bowl games. I know there are at least 5 games to go and I know motivation has a lot to do with these games but a sub .500 record doesn't look good either. The SEC as a whole has looked pretty pedestrian the past couple of seasons against the other power 5 schools in the regular season. Oklahoma needs to definitely wipe the floor with Georgia however.

The SEC rep is taking a pretty hard hit. Overrated is an understatement at this point. Ugly.

We have no coaches in this league anymore other than Saban. Smart is still unproven and Mullen is, too. I’m not sure the Ags upgraded or not. Who else is worth a flip?
