Just now found it. Can't help if I'm ahead of the curve.Well, there you have it. Should have been in the original post....

Random bodies would be one thing......random stiffs are something we certainly don't need. Our offensive line has resembled a morgue for far too long as it is....We need talented OL. Not just random bodies.
The guy is obviously not a stiff with uf, ut, and um after him.Random bodies would be one thing......random stiffs are something we certainly don't need. Our offensive line has resembled a morgue for far too long as it is....
Yeah but can he bench 225# for 6 reps like the last "can't miss" grad transfer Mason Halter?...The guy is obviously not a stiff with uf, ut, and um after him.
Besides, he can complete a Rubik s cube faster than me and behind his back which is what I always look for in my OL
Don't know if he's can't miss. But I would much rather take a shot on a guy who looks good and also looks like he might use the free education we give him one day than give a scholly to any of the credit card crew or their ilk.Yeah but can he bench 225# for 6 reps like the last "can't miss" grad transfer Mason Halter?...
You've got a point there however I'd really like to see us get back to grooming some guys from start to finish, 4 or 5 years, in our system.... Developing and having quality depth on the LOS is more often than not achieved this route vs bringing in guys not familiar with our system and each other.Don't know if he's can't miss. I'll tell ya I've gotten so pizzed in the last 7or 8 years at our offensive line play that I've wanted to throw sh!t across my house....then I remember what kind of morons we've had coaching and recruiting them.....But at the moment nobody is familiar with the system. And it might be better off right now for an individual not to be familiar with some of the riff-raff Butters left behind.

Lets hope there is some good stability with this staff and hopefully a blocking scheme change(more zone) will be the difference.
I'm hoping a change of blocking scheme(if it is true) will do a lot for the the returning starters. For the first time in a half dozens years our top 7 or 8 guys will actually physically resemble a true CFB offensive line....Maybe having simpler assignments will let them just go out and play instead of thinking too much. Over the last 5 or 6 years our guys often miss someone then look around like they were expecting help or someone else to handle the guy who just blew up our play.I hear where you're coming from, and mostly agree. First off, this Rice kid isn't even a real possibility (it seems) - so any "argument" is pointless (for now). As bad as our team has been on the OL I'd take this kid. He's a 3 year starter and unlike Mason Halter, he's on a D1 team (not an FCS team). He's played P5 schools and seems to have a lot of bigger P5 schools interested. He's probably more of a G5 type player, but we could use some proven depth on our OL. I doubt he would come to UF though since we technically return all 5 starters.
And down the road, hopefully we're in a position where we don't need transfers....but I think as a program you always have to consider it - either JUCO, grad transfer, or normal transfer. Alabama has done a great job filling needs w/ JUCO's and transfers (they had a stud WR from Bowling Green, 6'3 205lbs, who was a MAC star). (This has been discussed elsewhere here, but) Mullen comes to UF from the state of Mississippi, where there are a dozen or more JUCO's. He brought in a JUCO coach as a recruiting staffer. I think we'll scour the JUCO's w/ Mullen as coach and we'll see a JUCO or two every year being offered.

Let's hope the coaching helps w/ their on-field results...
Remind me of a single person who said he was "can't miss".Yeah but can he bench 225# for 6 reps like the last "can't miss" grad transfer Mason Halter?...
No, but at 6'5" and 300#, he can block out and rebound. Can he shoot the 3?
