franchise tag will be estimated at 34 million can you tie up that much for a 3rd qb?

I don't think he's a franchise guy, but he did do this:

3500 yards, 67 Cmp%, 22tds, 7ints, 71 QBR (2nd behind Wentz)

3rd QBs don't do that. It's a tough spot to be for vikings front office. That is why I'd say tag him. It is only one year. The team gets another year to evaluate his play and see if he is becoming a franchise QB. I don't envy the decision they have to make. It'll suck if they let him go and he ends up the next Drew Brees. They don't want to be the Miami Dolphins.

That's what I'm saying, A franchise tag for QB is currently estimated to be $34 million for next league year. That is too much for a guy who career stats are:

20-18 (11-3, 2017), 61.9% 8771 yards, 46 tds, 27 int... it's a tough position. He has played for three franchises in 6 years. This might be him getting it together, but I don't know if it makes sense for a one year rental at roughly 20% of a teams total cap number.

IAll 3 of them are going to be free agents, so who do you have more faith in to lead your team. I’d pay Keenum over Bradford any day at this point, but I’ve never been that impressed by Bradford, mostly because he’s the human equivalent of a toothpick.

Not a Bradford fan myself, but as a backup QB you can do a lot worse than him. Durability of course is one of his biggest knocks, so for me it just comes down to how much it will cost to keep Keenum on the roster. I'm assuming that the Vikings are still looking to go forward with Bridgewater for their future. If that's the case, then there's really only so much they can afford to spend for a QB to warm the bench until needed. If they can retain Keenum in the same ballpark as it would cost to keep Bradford, by all means keep Keenum. Will be interesting to see if other teams are impressed by what Keenum's done this year enough to price him out of Minnesota.

Can't wait around with Keenum and Bridgewater. They have to choose because Keenum will get some money from somewhere. Too much bad QB play in the league for someone to not take a shot at him. That means Minny will not be able to afford both. Bad thing is, Keenum may have been a one hit wonder and Bridgewater might not pan out, so that might really have squadoosh on their roster right now.

The Saints had the play defended perfectly. They had the sidelines blanketed b/c they knew any play in bounds would end the game. The safety displayed what could possibly have been the worst example of proper tackling technique I have ever see, Head down, Eyes down and tried to dive into him with his body. totally laughable. See it all the time with UF and other college teams, but it is rampant everywhere. Head up, Eyes up, break down, wrap your arms around the ball carrier and drive him down. It is incredible how the fundamentals in all sports are almost non existent.

If he went up higher as the receiver was coming down, he could have caused a spot or roughing penality giving the Vikings 15 more yards and a free play. The $hit rules against defense in the NFL really put that kid in a bad spot, once the receiver left his feet he was in a defenseless position.

Without a sure play on the ball, he's got to let the guy catch it then tackle him in bounds. even if the guy manages to get out of bounds, it's a 52 yard attempt. Rookie mistake.

I think that is what we are all saying, but the kid took a bad angle. Once the receiver left his feet, too easy for the refs to call one of the billion penalities against the defender giving the Vikes a free play.

Bradford is too fragile to rely on as a starter. He should be a back up.

So is your starter Bridgewater or Keenum?

Keep one and trade the other. Somebody will overpay for Keenum after what Garrapolo did in SF. Or, if you think Keenum is the real deal, ditch Bridgewater. Lots of teams would love to have him.

Alex.

I think keenum is pretty good in the system the vikes are using. Does that mean he's just good? Not necessarily, but hes darn effective for the vikes. You may not throw big time money at him, but with the injury riddled history of the other 2 stiffs on the roster, I'd do what is necessary to keep him around. 13-3 in the NFL is no joke, I dont care what kind of defense you have. And lets be real, there were some games where it was scoring that saved the day, not defense. This last one was an example, despite the epic fail by the saints safety.
