Missing on a guy like Barnes or Gouraige is a whiff...missing out on an out of state player committed to another team is not a whiff.

We had a visit lined up and he canceled it. Add in the talk that he’s not ending up at Bama and I consider that a miss.

Wonder what you’ll say if he ends up at UT or UGA?

Updated list:

1/19
  • WR Justin Watkins
  • DT Nesta Silvera
  • LB Andrew Chatfield
  • LB Xavier Peters
1/26
  • OL Richard Gouraige
  • OL Nick Petit-Frere
  • OL Will Barnes
  • OL Ed Montilus
  • DE Malik Langham
  • DB Noah Boykin
2/2
  • WR Jacob Copeland
  • DE Dorian Gerald (JUCO)
  • DE Jamarcus Chatman
  • DT Coynis Miller
  • DT Noah Jefferson (JUCO)
  • DB Mario Goodrich
  • DB Olaijah Griffin
Out of that list, give me Peters first. Next Silvera, Miller, followed by the OL, and the Jucos. The rest aren't important at all.

This is a transition class. I'm not losing sleep over it.

What is there to say? He liked them better. He is a Georgia kid after all. I guess we have different definitions of whiffs when it comes to recruiting. Trying your best to get a kid especially out of state and not getting them is not whiffing in my book. A guy like Watkins that is a top 150 player that's right in your back yard and not even being a player for him because you had Greg the worm Nord recruiting him is whiffing.

Would love to have Xavier Peters but that's not happening...grade issues are bad enough i don't think he's even allowed to visit.

Not even getting him on campus after we had him lined up to visit is what I’m referring to.

This isn’t me bagging on Mullen and co., just disappointed we aren’t landing top recruits at a big position of need.

I get what you are saying but he had relationships with these other teams for a lot longer...this is what you get during transitions when you are behind everyone else because of the **** staff that used to be here.

We are broadening that net right now. These top guys were whiffed on by Butters and Sham-man while they were here. Gonna be incredibly hard to get them to pay attention now.

I don’t disagree. Guess I just got my hopes up when we were riding some momentum a couple weeks ago :sadnanner:

We can sell Silvera and Chatfield on playing together. I think we can sell that tandem on playing together. Miami leads for the duo currently. I think we can sell more playing time.

Xavier Peters can also see massive amounts of playing time. This is a transition class. I'm just hoping we can get some balance in the class. 2 more WR's, 2 or 3 more OL, at least 3 DL (SDE and NT), and 1 or 2 LB's and another CB. Noah Jefferson would help a lot (6'6, 330). I really want one of Silvera, Lamar, or Miller. Really want us to hold on to Gouraige and if we do, shoot for the stars with NPF or Barnes and Montilus. When we are playing catch up to other staffs that stayed together, we have to really try to win package deals. Barnes/Montilus is one. Silvera/Chatfield is another. Another that seems really unlikely currently is Warren Thompson (WR) and Malcolm Lamar (DE). They seem to be destined for FSU but Taggert hasn't sealed the deal yet. I feel really good about where we are with Copeland and Watkins. I think a realistic class could be the following:

1. WR Justin Watkins
2. WR Jacob Copeland
3. OL Richard Gouraige
4. OL Will Barnes
5. OL Ed Montilus
6. DT Noah Jefferson (JUCO)
7. DT Nesta Silvera
8. DE Dorian Gerald (JUCO)
9. LB Xavier Peters
10. CB Noah Boykin

I don’t mind the backup plans, and don’t expect a top 5-10 class. And honestly, I’m not worried about DB, I just don’t want to miss on LB, DTs and OL. That’s my biggest concern.

Hoping for a miracle pull of Silvera, NPF, Walker, and Barnes. Anything else would be wonderful

That would be an incredible class and would have us winning almost every battle. Not to mention it's more seats than we currenly have apparently, if we are actually going to honor all the damn walkons awarded schollies which seems to be what is rumored (whehhhhhhhhh).

Anyway, I hope youre right but I don't see it.

We need linebackers like I need air to live. Peters doesnt look like hes going to qualify, and walker doesnt really seem interested. But hopefully we can hit 2019 hard on the LB front

That’s unfortunate about Peters, kid looked like a stud in the UA game. Saw we may be looking at Chatfield as OLB in our 3-4 scheme. Hope we land him.
