Someone mentioned earlier, and I don't feel like going back to look (The Dude maybe?), that they felt we would miss out on more than we would get, and that's the same feeling I'm getting. Seems like quite a few guys that were considered "locks" now are not so much. But, transition class, so I'm good.

That’s unfortunate about Peters, kid looked like a stud in the UA game. Saw we may be looking at Chatfield as OLB in our 3-4 scheme. Hope we land him.
Chatfield would be a perfect fit for our D and not for miami...i think he knows that. He is visiting with Silvera so hopefully we can make a great impression with those 2.

Absolutely...they purposely moved the visits for last weekend so that they could hit the road hard casting a wide net for some of the top players committed or not. Our weekends are getting more and more full but we really only have 9 spots left...maybe 10 if we get to waive the initial counter on Randy Russell which i think they are trying to get worked out.

BLUF: Another LB being evaluated, looking at a JUCO LB, and no longer considering Xavier Peters:

https://www.seccountry.com/florida/florida-recruiting-linebacker-targets

With Walker no longer in play, Florida’s options are limited at the position. This week the Gators will evaluate James Miller, a 3-star linebacker from Armwood High School (Seffner, Fla.).

The 6-foot-1, 225-pound prospect received an offer from Florida coach Dan Mullen and defensive coordinator Todd Grantham when they were at Mississippi State. He has also gained offers from LSU, Miami, South Florida and West Virginia, among others.

The Gators are recruiting 4-star weakside defensive ends Andrew Chatfield and Caleb Tannor to play outside linebacker in their 3-4 scheme. Tannor will officially visit this weekend and Chatfield also plans to take a trip to Florida.

Junior college linebacker Chauncey Manac received an offer from the Gators on Dec. 3, but his visit plans are unknown. Florida is not pursuing Kentucky linebacker commit Xavier Peters due to academics.

What we have seen a lot is that year 2 is a big bump and year 3 is a bit of a let down. I believe that is due in large part to the the transition class, so I am worried about the transition class. However, it seems this transition class will be much higher than Butters classes, so hopefully we'll see steady improvement year after year. The thing that is concerning is Kirby's transition class was ranked #9 followed by #3 and now #1 (presumably).

Rivals also had Peters projected to us, but now we are apparently backing off.

Manac was a 4 star, but ended up in Juco.

Seems like an athletic big body. We sure could use one or six.

UF has offered former three star JUCO DT Emmit Gooden (6'4" 295)

Gooden committed to Mullen at MSU before going JUCO.

Only real competition right now is ULL. Hmmmm....

They're arranging a campus visit for him.

Hard to imagine us getting watkins and Copeland.
Why? I think we definitely get Watkins. Its ok to miss on Copeland, if we can clear Grimes and Jefferson. But I would really like Copelands playmaking.

I also noticed the big JUCO DT Jefferson now has two "?" (question marks) vs. the Gator head prediction. WTF is up w/ that?!?!? Maybe this is why we offered Gooden?
Grades i think. We are being screwed by admissions with these Juco kids. None of them can qualify it sounds like.

I want us to get Copeland too I just don't know how he'd take it with us grabbing a guy with a similar skill set.

Does the SEC still have the algebra rule? Is that the reason?

... They should only require 'squadratic' equations.

Seriously, UF should have 2 levels for football players:
#1 should be for wise athletes who want an "upper crust" education.
#2 should be a very pragmatically-designed education that orients them to a life they can navigate with contentment.
= teach 'em that welding & stuff you see offered on TV-schools = practical marketable skills. Evaluate them reasonably. Such that their University experience can inspire them to achieve higher education spending their own dime after, perhaps with UF fringe benefits as help.?

Yep it's definitely looking none of the juco kids are looking good right now because of grades though it seems we are very high on their lists.

As for Copeland I still think we get him and Watkins will be a take as an athlete and they will figure out where to play him later (WR or CB)

Is it time for
We need linebackers like I need air to live. Peters doesnt look like hes going to qualify, and walker doesnt really seem interested. But hopefully we can hit 2019 hard on the LB front

Is it time to panic yet? :barfaway:
