Whiffing on that much instate elite talent would be crushing. I really hope that with Martez staying he gets on Barnes and Montilus and tells them your next make Apopka proud.

FYI I personally despise Apopka so that was hard to type.
Barnes is generally considered less of a talent than Martez.

We will be fine either way.

247Sports names final 2018 5-star prospects: List includes several SEC signees, targets

https://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/s...ts-list-includes-several-sec-signees-targets/

The final adjustments are in and 247Sports has just updated its list of 2018 player rankings for the final time leading up to National Signing Day, which will be Wednesday, Feb. 7 this year.

The entire 247Sports 2018 rankings can be found here. Keep in mind, these are not the 247Sports Composite Rankings, these are the 247Sports specific rankings. While the rankings saw plenty of movement in the latest round of updates, we’ve compiled a list of SEC-centric prospects that achieved five-star status in these rankings.

Of course, this year is unique in the world of college football recruiting, as several of the nation’s top prospect are off the market so to speak, after signing with their chosen school during the 72-hour early signing period in mid-December.

Signed 247Sports five-stars prospects headed to the SEC:

  • #2 ranked prospect: Justin Fields, QB — Georgia
  • #3 ranked prospect: Eyabi Anoma, WDE — Alabama
  • #8 ranked prospect: Jamaree Salyer, OG — Georgia
  • #13 ranked prospect: Zamir White, RB — Georgia
  • #20 ranked prospect: Terrace Marshall, WR — LSU
  • #23 ranked prospect: Channing Tindall, ILB — Georgia
  • #27 ranked prospect: Adam Anderson, OLB — Georgia
Unsigned 247Sports five-star prospects currently considering SEC schools:

  • #9 ranked prospect: Nicholas Petit-Frere, OT — Considering Alabama, Florida
  • #11 ranked prospect: Patrick Surtain Jr., CB — Considering LSU, Alabama, Florida
  • #12 ranked prospect: Tyson Campbell, CB — Considering Georgia, Alabama, Auburn
  • #19 ranked prospect: JaMarr Chase, WR — Considering LSU, Auburn, Florida
  • #31 ranked prospect: Quay Walker, OLB — Considering Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama (current soft commit), Auburn

The Miss State/Alabama game last year was a classic out-talent win for Bama. They got outplayed by Mullen's team, but in the end their talent won. And Miss State is a perfect example of a team not "at the top levels". That's who we are right now....a team NOT "at the top levels".

This is the ray of sunshine I’m clinging to right now. I gotta believe that recruiting for UF is easier than msu based on name brand and state HS talent. Combine that with establishing the will to consistently out-work our opponents and there’s reason for optimism.

That said, only time will tell.

There’s no doubt in my mind we beat UGA this season. None.
Mullen better have several "advisors" following UGa and game planning all season. IMO...THE most important conference game and a MUST win. Regardless of w-l or rankings.

The biggest thing that we are missing is QB. Now I’m not sure if we got the QB we need. But he’s probably the highest rated QB we’ve gotten since Tebow. And that is been a position that we have struck out on routinely.

So we filled the most critical spot on the team. I’m OK with this class because of that. Next year needs to be a top-five class.

You're right. That one-game winning streak has completely turned the tables. :suicide:

I'm rather shocked at how some of you have fallen at the feet of Kirby Smart.

It is the recruiting that has me worried. They are getting Alabama type talent and until we start to compete in recruiting it will be difficult to consistently beat them on the field. They will be young next year and that will help, but Kirby is building something and Mullen is going to have his work cut out for him.

I know Muschamp went 10-2, but think about how good Fromm is vs. Driskel. It is clear that UGA has a QB that can play. They have Fields behind him along with a ton of talented lineman (OL and DL), etc... They are going to be trouble.

I can't really tell if some of the posts are sarcastic or not but there is no way we are beating Georgia next year. I love the direction we are moving in and I think we can finish with a solid transition class but Georgia is going to finish with even more 5 star players and we just limped to the finish line of a 4-7 season. UGA, a team with a good amount of senior and upper classmen talent, was a play or two away from winning the national title.

Could we give them a good game? I think so. Depends on what happens with Franks/Jones/Trask. Either way, UGA doesn't only have one proven QB, they have Justin Friggin Fields backing him up. UGA is ridiculously talented and we are miles behind in that department when compared to them.

With all of that being said, let's finish this class with some OL and DL talent. I want to see us fill up in the trenches. If we can somehow finish with Gouraige, NPF, Barnes, and Montilus, I would be ecstatic. I think we'll finish with either Gouraige, Barnes, and Montilus or just Gouraige and NPF. We are becoming depleted on the DL, and we really need an overhaul when moving into a 3-4 defense.

Almost all. Mac truly is a horrible head coach, not only with the X's and O's, but as a CEO. It's clear his mind was everywhere else (selling BBQ sauce, fuc#ing sharks, etc.), except for building and coaching a football team. Even if he had a team chock full of 4* and 5* players, he would still find ways to lose.

A food-lab analyzed Mombo3 sauce and found the secret ingredient was shark ooze. ??

Already given up. Rather sad.

They had 3 times the talent we did in 2016 and we crushed them like bugs.
