Female safety Antoinette Harris receives scholarship offer from NAIA program

https://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/s...olarship-offer-naia-program-make-cfb-history/

Safety Antoinette “Toni” Harris received a scholarship offer from Bethany College, a NAIA school in Lindsborg, Kansas, Wednesday night. Harris currently plays for East Los Angeles College, a community college in California.

With the scholarship offer, she has already believed to become the first female who’s received an official scholarship offer, and she could become the first female non-kicker on a college football roster ever, per ESPN.

“We were absolutely interested,” Bethany College head coach Paul Hubbard told ESPN. “She definitely has the skill set. We’re always looking outside the box or inside the box to find players. We watched her compete against the kids out there.

“Plenty of females that have played,” Hubbard said. “But [Harris] would be the first at a skill position.”

Playing college football is certainly a goal for Harris, but it ultimately helps her get to her ultimate goal. Harris wants to become the first woman to play in the NFL.

“I can play at Bethany, so I can leave,” she said. “But I think I would want to finish off my sophomore year. A lot of other schools are interested. The offers are going to be rolling in. My ultimate goal is to excel at a four-year [university] and become the first female NFL player. I know I can get there.”

Now there is a college that needs some attention drawn to it. No other serious college FB program would think this is a good idea and what separate but equal locker and shower facility are they going to set up for her?

Joking aside, what were her offers? If she is qualified skill wise, other programs at their level should be offering. Or is this an extreme version of the diamond in the rough scenario? Or most likely, it is pc bullshyte that could get her hurt.

Well, she's apparently playing in JUCO (per the article). Other than that you'd have to do a google search. If she's playing Safety, she's gotta have similar size to the average college football player (maybe she's 5'11 180-ish?). Who knows, but I imagine a 220lb RB or 250lb TE would truck the sh*t out of her....like in American Vandal!

I did a google search and found 5'6 and 5'7....and 164lbs.

...not sure where he's going with this.

BTW, I'm actually surprised that we didn't give her an early offer last year.

Wow, "Elf on the Shelf", now Bytch on the Bench? Nobody's gonna want to be seen getting trucked by a girl - although I hear she brings ear-rings to every tackle. Publicity stunt for some "see-through" to lingerie football?

It might be interesting to see her trying to tackle a 220 Ib. college RB.

Or cover a 6'3 235lb TE.....

When I first read the story, I assumed she was the size of a normal college Safety....she's not. She's about the size a Junior Varsity LB or Junior HS RB.

I wonder how long it will be before a transgender female receives a scholly from a D1 school.
I assume it is just around the corner so this should get interesting

For a female, she's about as built as one can get. Very few women are like her. I saw a couple of pictures of her with teammates. I'm talking corners, runningbacks, and receivers. Players who should have similar size. The reality, she looks like a dwarf next to them. Unless she is unusually fast, I'm calling B.S. on this one.

Gonna give some style to CFB eyeshadow. Unsportswoman-like conduct penalties. She gonna strip somebody of the ball? If she can't bring GameDay to Bethany no-one can. Antoinette & Bethany BBFs?

So about the same size as Jeff Demps.

She’s in NAIA. She’s not playing FBS. She’s like a small walk on.

She’ll be fine.

There are still some pretty big RBs there probably. My guess is she is smart enough to pull the CB like attempted tackle when needed or they will just move her to CB possibly.

So a couple of things we know about her.

She's corner size playing safety so she can't be blazing fast. If she was that fast, she'd be playing corner.

Durty would hit it.

The article didn't specify free or strong safety. She's way too small for either spot but really undersized at strong.

She's got good natural muscle. Look at her legs. That's pretty good genetics in her calves, quads, and hammies. Looks like she has the lower-body strength to tackle a man. Well, maybe a small man. She also has an athletic upper body build; broader in the shoulders, narrower in the torso.

That's a wig.

She can tackle a WR she's running with, but not one that has a head of steam coming right to her.

She can dive on a pile, help out on a RB that's already being held up by other players.

She'd get trucked by any QB, RB, or TE over 190 unless she had help.

Still, this is an amazing accomplishment.

Alex.
