Defenses are getting faster and faster. Linemen are becoming more athletic. Linebackers are also getting faster and faster. It’s archaic and misguided to think that recruiting big, slower guys is a logical counter in today’s College Football. You will start to see more and more guys that have builds like NPF playing the tackle positions and stouter, yet mobile guys with a low center of gravity on the interior. The game is changing and I like what Mullen is doing.

Theyve been playing this offense since the 50s. It is nothing new. It is just the leather helmet veer with the tightends lined up in the slot.

Hell the veer is still the offense run by most middle schools and many of the high schools in the midwest.

You guys are funny if you think this is cutting edge.

Bret Bielema and the huge OL concept got him canned at Arkansas. We recruited more athletic linemen when Meyer was here and it turned out pretty good.

Gators climb recruiting rankings
Florida moves up in the 247Sports Composite Team Recruiting Rankings.

https://florida.247sports.com/Artic...-Composite-Team-Recruiting-Rankings-114428186

With the addition of three-star offensive lineman Griffin McDowell, the Florida Gators move up one spot in the 247Sports Composite Team Recruiting Rankings to No. 16. The Gators jumped Florida State, and now sit on 235.07 total points.

Florida has now has 16 members in its 2018 recruiting class. Thirteen of those players signed with the Gators back in December during the Early Signing Period. Florida currently has room for six more prospects in the 2018 class.

Feb 7th.

Mullens OL just need to take up space for a specific amount of time, they don't need to road grade. A quick first step is more important. That's why, minus Tebow, we could never pick up a 4th and one running the ball.

Bret Bielema got canned mostly bc he had Butters level recruiting skills and a Muskank like offensive concept.

The longer this takes the more nervous i get. Already think Tannor is out. The only locks being Caleb Johnson and Noah Boykin yet you never know what DC kids will do. Dorian Gerald has to be floored to pick us over A&M. And some idiot gator on twitter called him a DT and he got mad about it. So thats another reason to STOP TWEETING AT RECRUITS. Nobody outside of gainesvillle thinks NPF is a gator which is odd. Bammers think its them vs OSU. And osu thinks bama is just fluffing and not even in it. Gourage gets an in home with Dabo and I really hope Mullen goes in right after. I think Copeland will be a gator and I really hope Mullen is paying attention to the whole Bama situation. Hes not their first or second choice. Why would you go somewhere when theyd rather take other kids over you? Jarez Parks situation all over again. I also think we are in a good situation with Lamar and Chatfield but its so borderline i will be pleasantly surprised if theyre gators.

I’m with you. I think that Copeland is a gator. And outside of that I think everything is up in the air. I do not feel good about any remaining OL prospects. As for Gouriage, the only reason I am not negative on him is because he still has not decommited. Although that very well could happen on NSD.

I don’t think there’s much they can do about 2018. It’s a battle.

The good news is that they have been all over 2019 kids. I think we’ll have a stellar class next year.

I think you're being a little more doom & gloom than you should. Sure, we could flop next week...but chances are we get about half the kids on our board (our wants) - then we fill the other spots w/ a few Plan B's (which we actually have lined up). I think we have better than a 50/50 shot at both Gouraige and NPF, a great shot at Copeland, we get Gerald, Boykin, Chatfield, and possibly Tannor/Lamar, and/or maybe Beal.

Maybe. But I don’t think losing out on any of these kids other than Copeland, NPF, and Gerald would be that big a deal. I think those three are pretty elite talents but the others are more filler.

Now, bringing in those kids will help with numbers so it’s important to bring on who you can – but whether it’s them or somebody else they put in (a plan B), I think production will probably be about the same.

I would throw Gerald in the mix of not being that big of a deal...seems he is trending to A&M at the moment but if we get Johnson, Lamar, and Chatfield i would take that any day over getting Gerald and losing one of them. I really don't like going the juco route and would prefer we get some 4 year guys. Could be wrong and Gerald turns out to be a stud but rarely is that the case with juco kids.

I don't think bama has a legit shot at NPF...his family values education to much to send him there i think. It's shaping up to be a UF/ND/OSU battle for him and nobody seems to know. UF insiders seems split on him...Redman, Alderman, and Stampini have him in their class while HIgdon does not. OSU guy thinks UF is their biggest challenge while i think ND also views UF as their biggest challenge when it could be UF running 3rd to those guys. Nobody seems to know what this kid will do. If education is the most important thing and distance isn't a factor then it's ND. If relationships to coaches are the most important thing then it's OSU. If education and distance are somewhat equally important than it's UF.
