I think the entire thing was a set-up. They all had either Bamma or UToothless colors on. None of the family had Gator colors on. He's just having fun. He's got a little Trump in him.
She’s my favorite now.

Personally, I think if we have a solid season and show we finally have a QB, we could grab the #1 class next year.

I suppose you’re one of those that would have rather he filled the spots with 3 stars to “improve our Rivals ranking” and be stuck with tackle dummies than manage a roster and leave spots open for next year, right?

He could have easily added 6 more 3 stars and get a full 25. That would have put us at 7th on Rivals...is that what you’d rather have?
No I rather ANY coach at the premier University in the state of Florida be able to add 6 more 4 stars and end up with a top 5 class.....

UGA destroyed everyone including Bama.

But it doesn't change the fact that this is one helluva transition class and a very good first effort by DM. I was worried and pissing and moaning earlier, but have never been so glad to be wrong after seeing this finish.

And I think it is very fair to say this is a much better class that it's final ranking will show. As I mentioned previously (but apparently forgot:dunno:) three of the 3 stars from the early signing period that are "dragging down" our average are the number 2 kicker (so that's 5 star value with the loss of Eddie) and two 3 star OL that look like they could easily be future NFL guys to me. Then throw in 2 stud WR transfers and you can see this might not be just a great transition class, but a great class overall.

I know one thing, I sure hope EJ can pass because he's sure going to a bunch of stars to throw to.
We all better hope EJ's body can stand being rammed up the gut about 43 times a game....

You mean like the true freshmen QB, RB and WR that took over the NC game in the second half and won it?

And Tuscaloosa is closer to his home than Gainesville by about an hour.

That said, the opportunity to star at UF and be a focal point of its resurgence must have been enticing. But he said it came down to a gut decision, which I interpret as being a mix of relationships and comfort.

Watching his selection, I saw a different side of him than his boisterous Twitter persona. I’m glad he’s a Gator and look forward to watching him grow and play.

Not too bad for a 1st class. Quite a few blue chippers and ranking would have been a few spots higher if he signed some more 3 stars for the heck of it. It leaves a lot of spots open for the next class to be a large one.

It stuck out only one D lineman was signed however. I was hoping we could pick up that 5 star O lineman but at least we got some O linemen unlike some past classes.

He's had a top 5 class since he's been there I believe including his first......correct me if I'm wrong.

Smart has been recruiting like crazy these past 3 seasons. This next class will tell us where Mullen stands in recruiting but I don't think he did too bad this being his first class and keeping the signing numbers low.

You’re wrong.

It was just posted above. His first class was 9th. It was also gift wrapped by Richt having Eason, Cleveland and most of the other blue chippers already committed. He added exactly two players of note—Hardman and Ridley—nearly lost his star QB to recruiting all-star Jim McElwain, and did fail at flipping Taylor from us in a head to head battle.

None of this dampens what he’s doing currently. But the notion that someone can have a really good initial class but still need wins on the field to reach peak performance(like uga ‘18) is fully supported here.

Smart’s transition class was ranked 9th. Taggart’s is 9th, at least for now.

Factor in the two transfers and we’re right there. Take them out, and we’re still in the ballpark, with a better star average (3.78) than both of their first classes.

How dare you bring logic and a positive outlook to a discussion on this site. Wtf are you thinking? If you keep talking like this, we might actually start hoping that we'll improve next year. Ain't nobody got time for that!

Apples and oranges. Richt didn’t leave Smart in charge of program in crisis; indeed, contrary to the revisionists, Georgia was in very good shape. (After a 9-3 season, Richt’s 2015 class was #6 per Rivals and over his 15 years there, 12 were in the top 10 and all no lower than 15. He posted a .740 career at Georgia.) So Smart didn’t pull this year‘s class out of a hat. And we’d still have Old Yeller with Richt’s numbers.

LOL @ this thread. We really know how to MELTDOWN early in the day. Gotta wait till later in the day to evaluate it all. Great transition class by Mullen and coaches.
