I went back and watched White's presser after the Ugay game and he just looked dejected and disgusted. He used the word "entitled" in reference to the team and execution. Yeah....they've both quit on each other.

Said it in ChatBox : I cannot believe our guys are being practised correctly ... i.e. in a way that develops whatever are their strengths, a way that players see & feel fits rightly. No team can ignore that they have no individuals with no teammates to mold any sort of "inside-game". No decent coaching ignores that in practices all year long when that deficiency hurts us game after game.

White should be held accountable -- so bring in a "consultant" to chew his azz out and present many of the several basketball styles that a good coach could train this or future teams in. What we have been playing/practicing has not been constructive -- all year long -- all year long. Any great faith in what White & crew will do with better players than what UF typically gets? Can he attract better players??

So us "do-something" posters are playing at thinking like UF's AD ?
What will Stricklin do? White can stay, but he can't stay the same sameness.

I understand that we only have 8 players to practice, some coaches fill in so perhaps that is a part of the issue.

I still have hope they make the tournament, but White may be hoping for next season.

I think the early season offensive output gave the players some mojo and maybe a big head from the praise they got from the media. But if you watch White from when they started practice he always said they don't play very good D. I think White may have seen this coming. I am not saying it is all the players, because White should figure out how to get the guys to play, however even the best coaches ever have challenging seasons and it should be the coaches who get the players to buy in and form a team.

I agree with everything you said here.

Anyone, including yours truly, can see what is wrong and I can't say that I can fix it either.
The difference is I am not being paid seven figures to solve the puzzle.

As you mentioned, White has bemoaned their lack of defensive ability all year but what does he have to say about the fact that we now suck on offense as well? You would think with the very modest amount of effort being expended on the defensive end of the floor, we would see a clear headed offensive team that understands what a good shot looks like and works to find one.
Instead, these guys make up for a complete lack of effort on defense by playing offense like they cannot wait to run back down to the defensive end again.
We are rapidly approaching the point where White should throw in the towel and bench all the seniors and juniors that plan to apply for the draft (Hudson) and prepare for next year. Our starting line up should be Okauru, Allen, and Ballard at guard with Stone and Bassett in the front court. Let Cheeze, Igor, and Hudson watch for a while and let Hayes keep them company for a while as well.

What is the worst thing that could happen, we lose out?
Based on what I have watched, we are going to lose out anyway so we might as well get some quality playing time for the 2019 squad.

You've seen your fair share of basketball over the years, so I always enjoy your take. That new lineup You proposed would be interesting. Bassett would foul out in the first half. Stone's development has been very good. Allen I think doesnt like taking a back seat so maybe he would thrive with the young guys. Ballard and Okauru have a nice upside.

Well our final four games are decent teams so a split of the 4 games should set us up to get in for sure as long as we win at least one conference tourney game but if we were to only go 9-9 in conference it will take a run to the final game in the SEC tourney to get in probably. We are all the way down to # 63 in the RPI now.
If we end up in the NIT I ain't watching that sh*t. Not after where we started ranked pre-season and with our early season performances.

When a team regresses like this one has it's on the coaches.

Some guys can't play defense. Some guys won't. 8 coaches, 2 of them hall of famers, couldn't get Glenn Robinson to play defense. I think Hudson is one of those guys who simply doesn't want to. Chiozza is an awful floor leader. Coaching can't fix that. Allen has become a headcase. I think White has a tough decision. Sit some of these guys and go younger or keep playing the vets. Ballard is one the most talented offensive players on this team. He's certainly the best finisher. Yet, he plays so few minutes. Gak has his best game of the year. Then plays a total of 7 minutes the next 2. He didn't play against Vandy. Coach's decision, whatever that means.

This is the dumbest thing I've read in this thread. This is part of the biggest problem i have with white. Outside of transfers, his recruits are terrible. We're getting nothing out of ballard, gak, basset, Johnson wasn't very good, stokes isnt very good and hester transferred. This was my biggest fear when we hired somebody that never developed an nba player. Its a tough sell to recruits.

What other HCs are struggling like this with their players? Are they considered top coaches? Are any at a comparable university? Are they payed millions? Something big is wrong when star players regress ... when they can no more square up their body to shoot accurately.?? This team has developed failures that have grown worse with more experience under these coaches. IDK???

Ballard has shown flashes but is very, very raw and out of control most the time . Bassett has been playing well and I actually think he has solid upside. Gak has been unimpressive but has also been battling injuries. We haven’t seen Stokes or Johnson so I’ll withhold judgment there. That leaves Okauru who is a baller that I am looking forward to seeing what he develops into

I think I understand why Ballard doesn't play. I disagree with it though. I've nicknamed Ballard "The Black Hole." For most of the season, when he got the ball it didn't come back out. This is up to the coach to teach him. I don't think sitting him on the bench to play 2 minutes a game is the answer. That's wasting a player of his skill set. He can get to the basket when he wants, has an excellent mid-range game, is a finisher, and is physical which no one else is other than Okauru. I like Johnson's skill set as well, but he is far too light.

We have seen johnson and I've seen stokes. Stop quoting me about stokes. I get it. You don't believe me.

He's lost the team. They are consistently inconsistent. They are entitled and done put in the effort. They are all his players, guy's he's recruited out of High School and transfers. He's formed this team and he's lost them. That's on him as a coach and as a recruiter. It's a tough gig in a Power Conference with high expectations. This ain't Ole Miss or LA Tech. It's ok to accept it and move on.

Stokes will be an all sec caliber player eventually. His 3rd year should be outstanding. Oakuru is coming on better than expected and Ballard could be amazing if he played under control.

The recruits next year make these look like high school players. We have the best pure PG/passer, the best shooter, and the best athlete that turned into an amazing player this year. That's not in a state those are the best in the country

IMO, Chase Johnson came in with the ability-potential of being a solid starter. However, I'm thinking his concussion event has caused his lingering "mysterious illness" as some form of vertigo, meaning that sudden movement of his head causes him to lose awareness of his body position. If I'm guessing right, there's a high likelihood that Chase will never be an effective player.
