What's the story on Deacon Liput? I may be mistaken, but thought I heard he was suspended indefinitely.

We got some pop this year...

JJ's got a slugging % of .947. He's got 18 total bases, but only 5 RBIs ?? Dalton's got .765 slugging % but 9 RBIs.
Whole team BA = .353 .... We've got 4 backup guys with .500+ BAs. = nobody's pulling us down at the plate.
Pitching = 1.8 ERA.

Good call on JJ. At the game last nite, was so glad to see JJ hit the ball up the middle or to right field 3 times. Even homered to right. Hopefully he has tried to stop pulling everything and is just hitting it where it is thrown. looking forward to watching this weekend at scrotUM. Glad we get a decent team on the road.

Through 5 games team BA of .353 is impressive...considering the FAU game (Game 4) they only had 6 hits.

This weekend should be fun. Is it on tv?

I’ve been pro Sully from the get go. Getting to Omaha is very difficult, which he’s shown he’s very good at. Once you’re there, any team can win in double elimination tournament when they are all so good. The 1 seed rarely wins.

It’s not about being right or wrong for me. It just felt really good to get that champship, especially before criminoles. I don’t expect us to repeat, but I like our chances of winning another in the next 3-4 years.

This is one of the best things about winning the title.
Those goobers in Tally have been to Omaha something like 20 times without a trophy.
Mike Bowden Martin is like 80 years old and has no plans to let go which means they won't win one any time soon

Butler looked pretty sharp.. I think Leftwich is going to be a good one...

Agree. He looked really good out there. The mid week pitching last year dropped a lot of games for us against weak opponents, it doesn't seem like that is going to happen so much this year.

Overall we are looking really good. The bats seem to be pretty hot other than the one game at Miami. Winning 2 out of 3 at Miami is exactly what we needed to do. Pitching looks like it's going to be at least as good as last year and the bats are looking better thus far. Realllllly good to see Horvath have some success at the plate. If he can bat anywhere near .300 then our team is going to be so much better because of his defense. J.J. with a smokin' hot bat is what we need from our team leader. He's putting up player of the year numbers right now.

Hope we can keep this up and sweep Stony Brook this weekend!

Unfortunately, Sully's one of the worst small ball managers in college baseball.
Sully is a terrible in game manager, to the point where I also thought he'd never win a title. Things like the 2nd baseman covering 2nd with a left handed pull hitter up, bunting when we should hit and hitting when we should bunt boggle the mind. But many college coaches, and quite a few at the big league level, aren't any better. Girardi and Mattingly, for example, are just as bad if not worse. What separates Sully is that no one is better when it comes to recruiting and developing pitching talent, and he emphasizes defense. Lots of titles at every level have been won with pitching and defense.

The absolutely abused the opposing pitcher in the 5th. The poor guy's ERA must have been 45.

From seccountry:

Reese has seized his opportunity with 2017 starting second baseman Deacon Liput missing the first part of the season because of an undisclosed disciplinary matter. Liput will return to action this week, and O’Sullivan said he isn’t sure yet how he will juggle all his infield options. The Gators started Reese at shortstop, freshman Brady Smith at third and freshman Shane Shifflett at second the last two games with freshman Brady McConnell dealing with a wrist injury and third baseman Jonathan India also dealing with an injury. “I don’t know yet,” O’Sullivan said. “I’m just excited [Liput’s] coming back on Wednesday, and we’ll look at this thing [Monday] and Tuesday and figure out what’s best for our team.”
