Agree with most of this.
However, I can't see a scenario where Cyontai Lewis is our starting Tight End. This guy literally can't catch a cold. Having a catching TE that can't catch has never proven to have any value.
Secondly, I don't see E. Jones being a day 1 starter. I think Franks wins the job during the spring. I know most have written off Franks, but I wanna see what Dan can do with him. If it doesn't work you'll see a midseason switch.

The talent level on offense, especially with the newcomers, appears to be better than it's been in several years. After the very under-whelming defensive depth-chart we just saw, this one comes as a considerable relief. However, I don't think that the 1 thru 4 depth chart assignments mean much if anything at this point. Some of the #1s are likely to be displaced by younger, more talented players - no doubt about it. If not in the Spring, certainly before we reach the heart of the schedule. There are some good, solid returning starters, Scarlett for instance, who may not turn out to be our best option after everything shakes out. IMO, Scarlett is a very good back, but not an all-sec type, and there is some very strong young talent chomping at the bit to show what they can do. Scarlett may eventually be the man, but it ain't no slam-dunk.

The QB situation is beyond murky. Even trying to predict an accurate 1-4 at this point is a crapshoot. Until this staff puts these guys through their paces in the Spring, even they don't really know what they've really got. Of course, some seem to suck more, while others do seem to be more promising. But for now, I don't have a clue what's going to happen at QB. I "think" Jones is the likeliest #1, but what happens if one of the guys MacNumb either screwed up or ignored turns out to be better than anyone thought possible? What if Jones struggles? Add to that the fact that DM does have a history of doing great things with unsung QBs. Gonna be a fun Spring.

Jones will have a chance to win the job since he is here for the Spring. If he is the real deal even as a true freshman he should be able to beat out Franks especially in Mullen's system. Franks isn't slow but his running style isn't suited to this offense.

I think Scarlett deserves a lot of credit. His ability to balance the legal issue and still pin down a starting job is impressive. Always felt he was underrated vis-a-vis the nationally recognized backs.

That wouldn't surprise me either. I'm basically 51-49 in my thinking. We will know more when we see Spring Practice.

Fred Johnson.....oooooof! I hope the kid can get some coaching and come back a better football player....but I'm not going to hold my breath. He's made enough starts and played enough snaps to "get it" by now, so maybe the next guy just needs to step in? Hopefully Jordon can push him and between the two we can get a serviceable starter.

Depth is a concern. I have high hopes for TJ and Delance.....and hopefully the JUCO kid is a solid backup.

Fred seems like a good kid and he's one of those guys who is a hard worker. He's getting all he can out of his talent.... he just isn't an SEC player. It's easy to love him but he's he's just too slow for the SEC.

I'm not sure how good (or bad) Gamble is, but he's a solid TE (size)....and Pitts may be able to play that part.

I suspect RJ Raymond will get some action in jumbo packages as well. He's 255-ish and plays a hell of a DL for his size.
