Mac, the wizard, couldn't come up with anything for Treon at the end.

Really? How about open receivers running around on every single play? Mac came up with plenty. It was a smurf QB that couldnt hit a bull in the ass with a bass fiddle. Time and time again all he had to do is check down and throw. Besides that, the line pretty much sucked.

True

I say QB because if Harris hits a wide freakin open Callaway, we score 7-14 points the easy way and f$u has to respect the pass, opening our running game before the turds are able to wear down our D.
I see your point and I am certainly in the minority in this one.

The way I look at it, the kicker was missed multiple extra points cocaine habit bad, and the offensive line was couldn't even block a 3 man front from FAU historically bad.

Treon's shortcomings have been well documented. We were certainly better with Grier and we will be with LDR this year as well. At the same time, Treon is the same kid that led us back from a 10 point 4th quarter deficit on the road at Tennessee as a true freshman when he was playing behind 4 future nfl linemen. He was switch positions bad, but not Trey Burton or Jordan Reed bad at QB.

He [Harris] was switch positions bad, but not Trey Burton or Jordan Reed bad at QB.

That is a great observation. Treon definitely was a better QB when he had a line he could somewhat trust but his inability to hit wide open receivers (whether under duress or not) most assuredly shows he is nowhere close to being Div 1 SEC QB talent. He was still better than Burton or Reed though who were not really QBs at all. The success of Reed and Burton after their switch from HS QB to receiver does gives some hope for Treon's move to another position, however, if he can just keep out of trouble long enough to find out. Recent events though are making it seem more of a long shot that we'll ever see Treon excel in a Gator uniform.

I dont see Harris returning. He has several strikes and really should be out.

It certainly looks that way and he really is just a 'nice to have' at best at this point so it is no great loss. It's a shame he won't have a chance to redeem himself but, as Coach Mac likes to point out, he has to live with his choices and the consequences they bring and he has made a series of poor choices at this point. If he hasn't figured that much out by now then he definitely needs to go especially so he can't influence anyone else to join him on anymore bad choice adventures.

Speaking of a switch-position for Treon, would he not be serviceable as a run threat holding for FGs … ...err scratch that 'cause now FGs should be sure points.

People defending three stars and getting killed by Bama and FSU.

The rationalizations and excuses are just what you'd expect. Some really wrong posters up in this one.

Ouch.

The next person that says stars don't matter should be permabanned. They probably have defective brain matter anyhow.

The old threads are great to go through. I still read, but rarely post, on swamp gas....and the same blowhards who were defending Butters until the second he 'resigned' are starting threads about how great Mullen is and it's more or less a given that he'll be a success here (there's a 100+ post thread on "will we beat UGA this year?" - and the excuses and reasons are hilarious...and head shaking at the same time). I'm in the "the jury is out" on this hire crowd. But those making excuses (or justifications) are purely speculating. Coaching at MSU vs. UF is apples and oranges.

If I ever hear a "stars don't matter" I might have to fight a motherf*cker!!

It's a chosen few over there. And yes, it is funny. JHBYRD is the worst of the lot. He is literally a nazi propaganda guy. He twists everything and posts nonsensical stuff all the time to make Mullen appear like he's Bear Bryant. It's funny and sad at the same time.

Yep, that's the idiot I was referring to....there's others, but that retard takes the cake. He's the one that defending Nussmeir like he was an equal w/ Steve Spurrier's offensive mind. I got into it w/ him on Nussmeir and that's when I decided I was done posting over there.

Fred Johnson has improved a lot from what I have seen. He may need to move inside if we can actually find a tackle but for a kid WHO SHOULD BE A REDSHIRT FRESHMAN and a guy who was a huge reach, he is a pleasant surprise IMO. He shouldn't be written off.

I haven't seen anything from Zuniga or Jackson that makes me think they should be on scholarship next fall when we need to be pushing some off the ship.

Law's a big fan of Fred!!! :D

I am. But that doesnt mean he is good enough.

I saw that as I was looking through the thread and recalled the discussion on him yesterday (in the O depth chart thread). Honestly, I hope w/ his age and experience....along w/ new S&C program and new OL coach he plays better. Actually, I hope that for the entire OL. We have 7, 8 players w/ experience....but none of them are exceptional. Hopefully the combination of S&C and Hevesy helps....a lot!
