I am not ready to give up on Coach White yet, but I am not fully sold either. This year he was truly a player or two away from a Final Four team and some of that was injuries.

Lets look at some key factors:

1. The team improved defensively - this was key and I give White credit

2. The team did not improve offensively... they continued to have moments where they just played really bad all season - this is on White

3. Recruiting - White is bringing in talent. He has brought in Gak and Stokes as far as "big men", but both have been hurt so it is unknown if either is the answer. He doesn't have any big men in the next class and this is worrisome.

Overall he has done a decent job. He hasn't been amazing, but has made the tourney 2/3 years and made the elite 8 once and obviously lost a tough game last night. I feel like the team had a shot to win last night and I am not sure how much was on coaching vs. player decisions or lack of execution. I think White needs at least one more year before we truly know who he is.

Team looks bad, undisciplined, shabby defense and no offensive identity. Pumper want to use the Egbunu injury.......I call BS. Fact of business is there is little chemistry and two of the players that should have been lights out this year, Chiozza and Allen were erratic at best and Allen regressed IMO. Hayes is awful most of the time but has his moments. If the freshmen show improvement in the offseason then it might just be a matter of player buying in from the Donovan era or rather..not buying in.

Mike White did a heck of a job this year considering the main guys we were counting on in the interior never showed up this season. The roster is stacked for next year should Egbunu come back or not. Correct me if I'm wrong, but It's not that often that we've brought in three top 100 players in the same season. White is our guy, like him or not. So jump back on board the bandwagon and join us for some future win. Gator Basketball will be great again someday soon. Book it!

White didn't hurt Egbunu's knee, nor cause Stokes' injury during his senior season in high school. He didn't cause Chase Johnson's concussion either. And he did get Canyon Barry and Egor to fill gaps in the team and brought Jalen Hudson in to help with the offense. Last year's team was tenacious on defense and he said at the beginning of the year that would be the problem this year. They improved considerably on defense as the season progressed. He has a solid class coming in for next season and I'm overall pleased with what he's doing. He's not Billy Donovan yet, but Billy D wasn't Billy Donovan after his first 3 years. I like the guy and think he'll do fine.

I was not too crazy about how the season ended. Schizo. Next year is a big year. Let's see if he grows. We had some really rough games this year and some questionable coaching. We had major trouble closing out games. He deserves a chance to show what he's got.

Im glad some of you guys ain't calling the shots around here. What is the expectations around here for basketball? A tourney birth and a tourney win along with being amongst the top of the country in quality wins during the season isn't good enough anymore i guess.

Last night's was the first full game I watched the entire season. The offense is awful and the big guys look lost with the ball. We have a mind numbing tendency to jack the ball early in the possession. We make bad decisions everywhere on the floor.

I like what I see defensively but don't like what I see otherwise.

That's on the coach. I'm afraid it's not going to get much better. For that reason, I'm out on White.
So you've only watched one game this year and it was against the #3 defense in the country. Ok, remind me to never question your intelligence.

I'm fully on board with white but we need to pump the brakes on next year. It's gonna be a rebuilding. Could get kinda ugly. The year after, we'll be back on track.

I'm pretty sure I said full game, not one game. I've watched many of our games this year, more than enough to know what I like and what I don't like. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see where the issues are.

I'm wondering on the other hand what you've been watching. Or maybe you simply like getting beat by teams that move the ball around with purpose, work it into the paint, set up easy layups and make shots when they need to.

Blaming last night's loss on Tech having a good defense is lame in my book. We made a ton of hasty and bad decisions. You can make excuses for it or admit you need to get better.

We've scored a ton of points under coach white. Even steve kerr complimented our offense earlier this year. I think we set the record last year for most 100 point games in a season last year. Last night we played against a great defense with our all conference pg in foul trouble most of the game . Also, I'm sorry for being a dick in the first post, no reason to call you stupid . I apologize ,seriously .

This says it all. Jury definitely still out since we've seen some really good stuff and some worrisome stuff from him. But he's young so still developing is chops, and represents the University very well which actually means something to me.

He gets a pass for the first year, over-achieved his second and under-performed this year. Next year is a big year for White and the program. Are we still a BB powerhouse or do we fall back to mediocrity? I really hope White is the guy because I hate the idea of starting over.

What sucks is Purdue is clearly not the same team w/o Hass so a win yesterday could have gone a long way for building and continuing the legacy of the team and the coach. The talking heads had just picked up on and were touting our rather miraculous NCAA winning percentage right before that frikkin loss.

Our scoring woes run deeper than last night's foul trouble, which obviously was an issue. The minute Chiozza came back in the game, there was more organization to our attack. He makes us a different team through his presence.

Everyone scores more points early in the season. The issue in my mind is how you go about your business. Tech was a study in contrast, bringing the ball up the court patiently, setting screens, finding the open man underneath the basket for the easy layup. And they made key baskets from outside late in the game. They're built well for a tournament run.

We had to scrape and claw for every point last night. Yes, Tech plays great team defense, but we are often our own worst nemesis through sloppy ballhandling and questionable decisionmaking. And, yes, it wouldn't hurt if we were to develop a big man who was comfortable in the paint and with his back to the basket. We're too one-dimensional.

Take it as constructive criticism. I want to see us get better and more than anything have a sense of moving forward. I'd like it to be White who gets it done, though I wonder with the way we played as the season wore on.

He'll have more pieces to work with next season. There's no reason why we shouldn't be improved. It's his roster now. Time to make it happen.
