I don't see him going to KY either, how many times did he turn them down when he was at UF?

Besides, Cal is coach for life, they love how he does things.

OKC down 3-1 to Utah. Not sure how he survives another year. College?

He probably won’t last. Although it’s not his fault. That team is not very good. It’s an absolute shell of a team that has Brooks had.

Would Donovan return if asked? Would Stricklin even consider?

Probably no and no, but offer me one person not named White -- or Stricklin for obvious awkward reasons -- who'd rather he not.

Imagine having the court be named after him, the team struggling and Billy becoming available -- all at the same time.

It could happen.

Ouch.

Don't his parents still live in G'ville?

Donovan is a gym rat but I'm not yet sure he's got the necessary nomadic blood. Then again, I could be having a romantic fantasy.

Plenty of NBA coaches don't win championships, or even make the playoffs. And I bet he has enough money to last forever. I could see him starting a coaching training system, or some other form of business.

Huh? Why wouldn’t he just coach?

Tired of recruiting for college, and got fired in the NBA? Just an alternative for him to keep in the game without those issues.

I don't see Billy D getting fired after this year. They need to get rid of Melo and try to keep George, but I think George will be gone. If Billy did go back to college I suspect it will be a smaller school like say Providence if Ed Cooley moved on.

OKC has gotten steadily worse during Billy D's years there. It's not his fault, as Durant left and management signs free agents and makes trades. The NBA is a player's league, Donovan had an itch he had to scratch, but I see the dream coming to an end sooner rather than later. He's too young to quit and I don't see him coming back to Florida - just like the Spurrier situation. He could hang on in the NBA and becoming one of those revolving door coaches that move from one team to another until they're too old to do it anymore. Or he could get an offer from a big tiime college program that intrigues him. In hindsight, my guess is that he regrets leaving UF, as he could have become one of the all time winningest coaches if he had stayed for the duration. Oh well. Wish him the best.

Well Pitino went NBA and warned him. Calipari went NBA....all failed. So Billy going back to college wouldn't surprise me. Like SOS, it would be awkward seeing him at another school.

If Billy came back to college it won't be here right now. It's Mike's job for better or worse now. Could it happen in 2-3 years maybe but I doubt it. He'll get a ton of chances in the NBA. Plenty of coaches get multiple stops.

Nothing recently about any kind of speculation that Billy D will be gone or anything whatsoever about OKC really

Melo should be fired before Billy would be. Too bad they traded away Oladipo and Sabonis because I think George will be gone and then it's back to square 1.

I watch almost zero NBA basketball and when I watch a little in the playoffs, it is mostly one star player dribbling the ball for 10-20 seconds, everyone else gets out of the way and just watches until he does something. Looks a lot like Mike's offensive strategy at UF sans a star player, but I digress. I could not have named one single player on the Jazz prior to the playoffs and had no idea that Ricky Rubio played for the Jazz or was still in the NBA or not playing for the Wolves. But the few minutes I saw of the Jazz was a bit entertaining. They play team ball. They move without the ball, they pass the ball around, they cut, etc. It was certainly atypical of most of today's NBA.

It may blow your mind that Quin Snyder is Utah's coach. I thought it wouldn't work it at all, but he's doing OK.
