Thus the reason, like others have mentioned, I voluntarily paid the lifetime membership and would have paid more.
Just a reminder to everyone: There is a "Donate" tab at the top of the page. You can give as much as you want, whenever you want, as many times as you want. I have graciously decided to leave the amount you can give as unlimited.

You really aren’t very bright. It’s been back in use for days now. Have you considered actually trying it?

Does Ox start this threat whenever his Prozac runs low?

If you send a request out to your remaining loyal customers to asses the product they have continued to consume, while implicitly omitting those who were upset (and thus gone), then you get a better reaffirmation than Stuart Smalley. I jest, because the site is great. Thus the reason, like others have mentioned, I voluntarily paid the lifetime membership and would have paid more.

I rarely post, and not due to fear of Law or other posters, nor is it due to T-Rex's lack of self reflection in criticizing other posters for personal attacks. That is actually one of the more amusing aspects of this board, when a member (most likely Rex) calls another poster any number of awful things, then writes "We shouldn't get personal." But, I rarely post due to being a bit too busy and a lack of adding much substance to the discussion on most occasions. I realize that doesn't hold back 90-95% of you, but go for it because you frequent posters provide content for us lurkers to come by and read on a regular basis.

Lurkers and newbies just have to learn that if Law is arguing a certain record was 7-5 in March it will be 4-8 by April. Facts aren't important here; the general point is. Facts are fungible on this board and others; this board just laughs about that more. As a "sports bar" setting, we should be permitted a few drinks in level of exaggeration to make our points.

Most importantly, when making posts, this board can honestly observe what its members see with their own eyes, even if 2222 retroactively forces/d his eyes to see open receivers via a video editing company owned by Nussmeier's daughter.

My first post on this board (or any board ever) completely bashed our coach and how his sideline demeanor and lack of engagement demonstrated he had quit before the season started. I wasn't attacked, though some still fought for Mac, because I wasn't incoherent or illogical. That is the sign of a good place. Well done Ox. Add one more Stuart Smalley mirror image telling you that "you're good enough and people like you."

F#@K FSU, UGA, Z#$K, Muschamp, and Mac.

Long live GatorChatter and the Godfather of Florida Football, SOS.
You should post more often.

Someone had to say it.

Who doesn't miss that amazing layout. The super intelligent trolls who literally schit on everything. The fact that most anti virus software programs tried to block you from viewing the site. All of that inside info from the goat PAT DOOLEY and his little friend Crucial.

:suicide:

When are you coming back? A lot of people are asking about you and miss you.

Canned email is canned. If I had an automated response set up for an automated email, you would have heard from me.

For my personal situation, it is this: I've switched to lurking as participation isn't enjoyable. I came to GSMB to stay up on Gator sports with fellow fans. I switched to GCMB for the same reason, as GSMB was low on members who were fun to interact with and had too many members who were intolerable. However, over the past year or two, even the environment on this site's sports section has become no-joy. Yeah, part of that is the crap product on the football field, but I can sustain hope in most cases...unless it's beaten out of me by overbearing personalities. There's still some members there I value, but too many make it too difficult to enjoy being in there. Being the off season, things are naturally quieter. However, even the non-football threads tend to become unenjoyable - those that support those discussions are great, it's the other personalities that make it not worth participating. I'll scan thread titles, but even a thread with a good topic isn't worth the read due to many of the comments.

I've avoided political forums on most sites, but have drifted to the PF here in the last year or so. I would dabble, but mostly use the forum for keeping up on current events. There are a few members in there I truly value and look forward to hearing from, but there are others that are solidly in the no-value group (not even for entertainment purposes, that kinda thing provides me no enjoyment). It's become one of my primary source for knowing what's happening, so for that, I lurk.

I still think GCMB is the best source on the web for up to date information on the football program - I don't frequent other sites, so I can't state it as fact, but it feels like it to me. I don't believe there is anywhere else that comes close. I think the PF provides a decent window to the outside world and offers some really good insights from key members...if you can wade through the other crap comments. It just shouldn't be one's only window to the outside world.

It's always stated, "this site isn't for everyone" and "if you don't like it, leave". So I ask myself, why am I here if I'm not enjoying it? For sports...off season sucks. Maybe I'll re-engage in the fall, but I'll need to enjoy it, not just tolerate it. For politics, I can get what I want by lurking. Maybe an occasional post, but for the most part just lurking.

Last year I started one of these, which had over 500 posts. I'd like to do one every year so people can give their 2 cents, so here we are again.

What's the point? Was anything raised last year that got any level of attention? No. Have changes/improvements been made to the site in the past year wholly unrelated to the feedback? Yes (sidebar, polls, etc). However, any and all changes are subject to the will and inclination of Ox. Not saying it's right or wrong, it just defies reason when asking for feedback like this.

Sec14Gator passes it off as a joke, but he hit the nail on the head - this is a personal site for specific people. Ox made a place in his vision, for the close knit group of folks that got sick of GSMB. It's modeled in a more free for all format with little restriction, and the members that make up the heart and soul of the forums thrive in it. Ox made a site for those individuals, and is asking those same people if it is meeting their needs - that's his desire and intent. By and large, I think he meets those needs quite well.

Growing membership would be nice, but it's not a driving factor in decision making. There is no intent to change anything that would alter the enjoyment of that core existing membership . And no effort is given to actually draw in new members. That's left for lurkers to watch the interactions and determine if they feel comfortable in that environment as it is.

"This site isn't for everyone" has never been truer than for this site. It is for Ox and the core members. Period. NTTAWWT.

I can try to offer some suggestions for improvement. However, they don't effect your core members and while I think they could help draw more people in, it falls to the will and desires of Ox:

1. Merge the recruiting forum back into sports. It's a no-traffic sub-forum and by separating it you show the world a section void of active discussion. Meanwhile, people speak of the lack of sports discussion in the sports forum. Move the recruiting back in, so it mixes with what little discussion is there. Let them (recruiting and non-football) feed off eachother and show the world a place that remains active in the off season.

2. Assign someone or set yourself a reminder to update the front page periodically. Lurkers and visitors are currently greeted with:
a. The National Signing Day Thread - A pic of EJ (yay!) with discussion started APR'17 and last commented FEB'18
b. UF Announces Dan Mullen as HC $36 Million over 6 Years - started NOV'17 and last commented DEC'17

I was expecting more complaints than this. Where is everyone?

You don't really want complaints. You want confirmation that your core members are happy with what you're giving them. Note, all quotes are from this thread, in response to suggestions from your core members:

Disagree.

I'm not changing things up for a tiny minority.

Tiny minority. How many times will core members offer suggestions when they are rebuked for making such suggestions? That minority will only get smaller if this is how you respond when getting the feedback you asked for.

=============

You can read that with a tone of dislike, but it's honestly not there at all. I accept this site being what it is - for those core members, run by Ox as he sees fit. I'm totally chill with all of this.

I'm generally a very supportive and giving person, always willing to help. If you ever want an honest discussion on growing membership, I'd be more than happy to discuss ideas. However, so long as the intent is to cater to a core group, under the whims of the Admin and owner, you don't really need feedback or discussion from the likes of me. I'll go back to lurking.

I did not read all eight pages. Anything can be improved, but how is always the issue. Sometimes there is data to use or standards, not so much with internet boards.

Some comments follow:

The level of control of posters is appropriate for me, I don't like too much interference with the posters, but some is appropriate.

Having some guest posts from individuals involved or were involved in the Gators program especially football and men's basketball might improve the board.

Ads are always a possibility, but cost benefit is an issue especially with a board like this. Perhaps some personal events at say football games might encourage more posters.

An instragram account with pictures from Gator sports events contributed by posters might be an option.

I am unfortunately not an expert.

I've been getting redirected to some different websites from this site recently, and have to hit the back button to get back to gator chatter. Is that happening to anyone else? I'm on a brand new computer and this is the only website I have gotten redirected like that. I've been waiting for an appropriate place to post this so I guess this would be it. Anybody else experienced random redirects from here?
this has happened to me quite a bit.
