So where are the deficiencies in the 2018 football team?

I fear that we hired the wrong guy, but I agree with you that failing to win 10 lgames won't prove that. There is, however, no reason to be obnoxious or abusive about it. Instigator opened an interesting thread and politely gave his opinion. Show him same courtesy.
He’s spouted that same crap about 10 wins over and over. There’s all no reason for you to butt in on my conversation, so fck off.

BTW, winning 10 games beating:

1. Charleston St.
2. Idaho
3. Colorado St.
4. UK
5. Vandy
6. UMo
7. Miss. St.
8. SoCar
9. UTn
10. LSU

Won't prove UF hired the right coach either.

Urlacher ran a 4.57. I think Roquan is right about there.

I could see us winning all those games, but I could also see us losing the last 4. Personally I think we lose at least 2 of the last 4.

It starts with the coach and works it’s way down from there.

3. UF has an experienced talented OL with McCoy, Ivey, Taylor, Heggie, F.Johnson and Jordan and the potential for more depth from transfers, RFROSH etc.

Sorry, Insti...cannot agree with this comment. I don't care how experienced the OL is, it sucks. We have too many OL on scholarship who are not UF/SEC caliber OL. Until I see different, I am not buying the OL is improved.

Again I am not making a prediction. I am merely saying this is what the talent level should do with good coaching.

I keep saying 10 wins should be the minimum acceptable performance for the 2018 season given the schedule etc. Lots of other people around here scoff at that saying not with this roster. So my question is QB ASIDE where are the weaknesses on this roster. (QB has been discussed ad infinitum so I want to hear about the rest of the roster.)

My general impression is:

1. UF has really good RBs with and if Davis gets healthy would be among the best around.

2. UF has good WRs with Cleveland and Toney if he can stay healthy proven at UF, Jefferson proven in the SEC and Hammonds and Massey with some experience at UF. Grimes is an unknown who came out with a bunch of stars but did little in his year at Ohio St.

3. UF has an experienced talented OL with McCoy, Ivey, Taylor, Heggie, F.Johnson and Jordan and the potential for more depth from transfers, RFROSH etc.

4. UF has some experienced TEs in Lewis and Stephens.

5. UF has good experienced young CBs in Wilson and Henderson. UF has Gardner-Johnson and J. Taylor for the S spots. Some other young guys played so UF has some depth.

6. UF has good LB where UF returns Reese, Joseph and Moon plus some backup guys with experience. LB depth hurt last year, but should be better this year.

7. At is solid at DL where UF returns Jefferson at one DE and has Clark, Slaton, Dunlap and Zuniga for the other two positions.

Sure these defensive players are playing a "different" defense, but that is alignment and defense is as much read and react. Sure like everyone else in the country UF could use more depth particularly quality depth. And of course UF must establish a new punter and place kicker this fall.

Still what is wrong with this roster. I know many times during the Spurrier years, UF had a roster that looked much like this or had clear holes and I fully expected UF to wiin 10+ games and UF always did.

So again I DO NOT want to hear about the position that is NOT to be mentioned on this thread. Other than that position what do you feel are the weaknesses of this roster that makes my analysis, that if UF hired the right coach he should win 10 games this year, wrong?

1. I agree with you. We are stacked at RB.

2. Disagree completely UNLESS Van and Grimes get their waivers. If our top 4 is Van, Grimes, Toney, and Copeland we are good. If our top 4 is Toney, Copeland, Cleveland and whoever we are in some trouble.

3. You said talented OL lol. That is hysterical and makes me wonder what the hell are you watching when a Gators game is on. Heggie and Ivey have NFL talent. Damn near everyone else doesn't even have SEC talent.

4. Moral Stephens? Really? He probably runs a 6.4 40 and I don't remember him being a great blocker. Cyontai might do something this year. I've seen him get open but stank ass QB's can't get him the ball.

5. We are good at CB with Marco and Hendo. Plus Chauncy at NB and finally out of the safety spot. We are good at those 3 positions. Safety on the other hand is a real question mark and I haven't really noticed anyone who stepped up to take a spot. These guys don't lack talent though so MAYBE something positive happens back there.

6. You said "good LBs," I should probably have just ignored your post right there. You clearly don't follow football if you think any LB on the Gators roster is good at anything but being owned on a play by play basis.

7. DL should be good. Not best in school history good and definitely not a Will Muschamp era DL but good enough to get by.

So to answer your question we are lacking in OL talent, WR talent (unless we get waivers), LB talent, and questions at safety. Throw in QB and you can see why folks with brains know this team has zero shot to win 10 games.

Schedule is favorable but O line and Franks (cant help myself) are not good enough to put us into true contention for the SEC this season. Miss State would be better than 50/50 to beat us if their starting QB is playing I would think.

Their starting QB is trash too.

He actually played pretty good at times I thought. Basically Driskel but with a brain that can at least process the basic read option stuff quickly. Havent looked at his rushing stats for the games before his injury but he reeled off a bunch of pretty big runs with that speed he has.
