I hate this brand of basketball. Just keep jacking up 3’s. Harden is a joke. When he’s hot he is great but when his shot is off he contributes nothing. He’s the fifth best player on the floor and will win MVP. Change his name to James Haren - no D.

Harden just is not a leader. He does his thing...hot or cold...but he is not a floor leader.

Never f*cking heard of the concept of defense either. That's not championships caliber coaching to me.
Dantoni's teams have never played any d. I thought they were pretty scrappy this series before the paul injury. Heck, I'd say they were scrappy the first half tonight.

Really a combination of things did in the Rockets. It all starts with CP3, though.

“MVP’s” find a way to hold on to a 15 point advantage. You’re up 15, why do you keep jacking 3’s when they aren’t falling?
The ball woulda been in pauls hands more. I agree, i don't understand the shot selection but ive always thought harden was overrated. More of a regular season hero and disappears in the playoffs when teams are actually playing defense.

There are going to be all kinds of excuses coming out but the truth is Houston choked...plain and simple. 2 close out games with big leads and they choke it away both time in ridiculous fashion.

Golden State’s key is their poise and composure.

Agreed but when you get tired D is the first thing to suffer. The frenetic pace they play leads to fatigue. CP3 might have made a difference as they seem to have lacked a floor general to set the pace.

Absolutely. Harden is a 2. Gordon is a 2. CP3 is their natural point.

Gators need a QB, the O Line needs to step up, Foley sucks and recruiting is just awful. Thought I’d get this site back on track. There should be a reference to Mac doing his best remora impersonation and bad BBQ sauce as well.

Surely you forgot Bill Russell.
Nope. He doesn't make my top five. No slight to him. Great member of that tremendous Celtics championship run, but I can't rate him above those five, including Kareem.

Don’t forget though....through 5 games the rockets were significantly more effective when harden was on the floor and CP3 was off. Personally I would rather have Paul out there and Harden locked in the locker room but those are the numbers.

Are you old enough to have seen him play?
Yes I am. I watched a good amount of Russell and the Celts in the '60s on TV. They were always the featured game.

To me those great Celtics teams epitomized what a team was. Great passing, great movement without the ball, completely unselfish play. Almost everyone in the rotation was an All-Star in terms of talent.

When it comes to rating individual talent, I have to go with these five. I think it's the first time I ever listed a top five that did not include the Big O. It's just as hard for me to leave him out.

Yeah, I posted that stat a few days ago. It's an oddity.

Another interesting stat. Rockets were held under 100 points something like 8 times all year long. GS just held them under 100 5 games in a row....and remember CP3 played in the first 3 of those.

Some say the Rockets offense is similar to the Warriors because of the 3 ball. Nothing could be further from the truth. GS offense is predicated on extreme ball and player movement. The rocket offense is triggered by a single player (Harden or Paul) dominating the ball and either a drive or a single kickout off the drive. Huge difference.

Houston had a great season but I just dont think they are built to win a championship.

Crazy game. That 1st half was tremendous from HOU on D. Second half was simply ridiculous. HOU was 1-28 from 3 at one point. I kept waiting for them to ball fake and drive to the basket for at least two points, but they never did.

I'm not fond of this style of NBA play. No big men posting, no plays ran in the paint, all either cuts to the basket for layups and jacking up 3s. Now I understand why the high schoolers are leaving simple fundamental basketball.....
