He's also a teenager....so that could change on a whim. He's been a UF lean for a long time, I'm holding out hope. If we miss on all three of these kids it's not a good look for UF recruiting. The big kid that just visited, Pierce, looks solid...but could end up along the OL if he gains too much weight (he's already 250 going into his Sr. year of HS). I'm not sure what the next option is after him.
Rae will decide soon, after his official to Southern Cal.

Anyone else listen to Dave Waters' Gator Breakdown today? He had Jalon Jones on for a chat and brought up the transfer from St Francis Academy. Evidently the strong motivator was that SFA was only throwing 10 times a game. I look for him to find a program close to home that airs it out, and if he's successful he'll likely boost his ranking a bit.

I posted this a few pages back (the transfer). I thought he was returning to his old HS, Henrico County.

Florida-bound quarterback Jalon Jones will return to Richmond

Jalon Jones, a quarterback committed to the University of Florida, will return to Henrico High School for his senior season.

I believe it. He only had about 150 attempts each of his last 2 seasons. I like that the kid wants to develop as a QB.

Yeah, I saw that. Interesting that in the podcast he called out the low attempts numbers as one of his big reasons. All I'd seen was that he wanted to be around his parents for his senior season (which he also said in the interview).

Wasn't the best podcast for Dave, but it was good to hear the kid. Sounds mature and confident.

Funny how the standard Mullen detractors are jumping on this. All comedy aside, if this kid shows up with the KSAs to be "The QB" he'll likely get plenty of attempts, and yes, some of those will be down the field.

It took a few minutes of perusing Richmond.com since Maxpreps is so inconsistent with stats. At SFA, JJ averaged about 150 attempts in 2 seasons as a starting QB. The QB for Henrico High last season averaged between 25-30 from what I could gather. It is a smart decision to transfer. He needs a ton of work when it comes to accuracy.

How many times have we seen it where the out of state kid is all Gator and stays home on signing day.

He threw 155 attempts at Henrico: from the article, "During his sophomore season, he completed 88 of 155 passes for 1,235 yards, 18 touchdowns and five interceptions." Which is around 15/game (if he played a 10 game season).

He only played 1 season at SFA. I think he only threw it 80 times last year.

In this article, his stats are very mediocre - because SFA dominated teams and rarely threw the ball. He had one game he was 2 for 2 for 18 yards passing. Can't blame him for transferring back. His coach is doing him no favors (but can't blame the coach, if you're winning big why throw the ball?):

Rated the nation’s No. 10 dual-threat quarterback in the Class of 2019 by 247Sports, the 6-foot-3, 180-pound Jones ran for 819 yards and eight touchdowns last season and threw for 1,025 and 11 touchdowns. He’s rated the No. 9 overall player in Maryland.

You totally overstated that! I wouldn't bat an eye if we lost out on all 3.12 months from now you won't remember who these guys are. Besides, TE isn't a huge need. As long as you keep Cyontai Lewis off the field, they'll be fine.

Yeah, that's why I'm not giving up on Zipperer. Rae and Billingsley are out of state prospects. But with our luck, Zipperer will go out of state and the other two will stay home (I think Billingsley leaves regardless. He doesn't want to play at Illinois when he's getting SEC offers). The other odd thing w/ Zipperer is he was a UF lean, with Miami being his second choice (according the recruiting 'gurus'). He's still a UF lean on 247 (w/ Miami 2nd), but Alabama, UGA, and Clemson are the other choices.
